Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency

I agree with most of arguments you mentioned. What I had in mind when writing my post about Windows was: - hardware support - software available First one is out of discussion, I guess. Majority of hardware suppliers don't care about Linux because it's user base is too tiny (I mean audio gear). When...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency

At this point the only thing I miss are good quality synthesizer plugins. Some time ago I bought NI Komplete and there are great synths. So what when I can't use them in comfortable way (in linux)? I'm waiting for bitwig, maybe it will fill this niche with it's own built in synths... who knows. Falk...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency

Hey, I was talking about audio. Windows sucks in terms of security and with the web. That is why I chose Linux - because it does not slow down without a reason. But in terms of audio there is much to do. From my, a regular user, point of view. I don't mind paying for software, actually I bought lice...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency

I have to disagree. A while ago I booted up my windows partition, curious what kinds of sounds would be a available to use with a MIDI controller I've got - tempted by tales of "massive amounts of free vsti's" etc like you mention. I found everything horribly confusing and did not get it ...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency

Back on topic any distro is better than having to use windows. Heh. Sorry but no. Yesterday I tried to actually make some music (instead of trying new software and getting things to work) and it turned out my workflow in Linux is completely broken. I won't complain, surely I need to practice more a...

Why waste time on comparing with "the other video"? Such things should be ignored.

Re: Studio 13.37 YouTube Video

I'm sorry if that sounds insulting falkTX. I'm not trying to imply that your Cadence tools have no purpose - in your distro, they certainly do. No, you did want to imply that. If you didn't you would at least try to make your statement more polite. You are dishonest and tiring. Instead of promoting...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla

I see, thanks. So I will have to use stanalone versions of NI plugins with wine or wait for ladish update. No problem ;)

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla

ladish can't handle apps with more than 1 jack client right now. I know about this so when Carla runs inside ladish in multi-client mode it's automatically changed to single-client. nedko is working on this (in ladish). I don't know how much time we have to wait for it, but once he pushes the code ...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla

I took a closer look at the discovery process and I noticed that it is wine that crashes and only when trying to scan guitar rig x64. Other plugins from NI are successfully scanned but none can be run, they always crash. Strange, because some of them (like FM8 x64 or Reactor x64) run flawlessly with...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla

Hello FalkTX, That was fast! All bridges are recognized after installation and I can load & use plugins again. Thank you very much! However, win64 crashes at scanning plugins. Just so you now, I attach the crashlog: Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000020 in 64-bit code (0x0...
