Re: Can I mute monitor output and line output of Scarlett Solo independently in alsamixer?
Sure, jack_mixer is a nice jack application. Most non-music applicaions like Firefox use Pulseaudio. Having jack as my main sound system and configuring Pulseaudio to output to jack (with jack-sink) works perfectly on my machines. A buffer size of 64 with 48000 Hz is no problem. No xruns when playi...

Re: Can I mute monitor output and line output of Scarlett Solo independently in alsamixer?
No. The Scarletts Solo, 2i2 and 2i4 don't have a builtin mixer/volume that can be controlled by the computer. The 2i4 has 4 outputs so you could mute them with a software mixer, e.g. jack-mixer. Headphones can be assigned with a hardware switch to 1+2 or 3+4. Assign headphones to 1+2 and speakers t...

Can I mute monitor output and line output of Scarlett Solo independently in alsamixer?
I don't have Scarlett Solo, but I am considering buying one. Can I mute monitor output and line output of Scarlett Solo independently in alsamixer? If I could, I could flip mute status of monitor output and line output in alsamixer so that only one of them is mute at any moment. This way, I can make...

Re: How can I eliminate pop sounds from alsa_in and zita-a2j working on ALSA loopback?
I discovered that mpv has no problem with zita-a2j, but vivaldi sometimes produces pops. I suspect that vivaldi doesn't properly prioritize video and audio, but it is far easier for mpv to do so. Web browsers are not optimized for real-time video and audio. That's why web browsers send occasional po...

The fact that web browsers don't support jack doesn't change even if I swap the master and the slave.merlyn wrote:You could try making the desktop the master and the RPi the slave, then use alsa_out to connect to the DAC on the RPi.
Web browsers should support JACK. Firefox abandoned JACK for years.

With that, my jack patchbay loses the ability to route the sound from ALSA.merlyn wrote:I use the ALSA JACK plugin.

I didn't set it up myself -- it's an option in Cadence, the JACK frontend I use.

audioadapter is not better than alsa_in and alsa_out.Jack Winter wrote:Did you try the builtin clients instead of alsa_in/out? On JACK1 the -A parameter and on JACK2 the audioadapter client? No idea if they would work better, but maybe worth a try.

Re: How can I eliminate pop sounds from alsa_in and zita-a2j working on ALSA loopback?
Just to get this straight: You start JACK on the RPi. The RPi is the master and takes input over the network from your desktop using netone . To use headphones on your desktop you need alsa_in . So clicks and pops through the speakers are nothing to do with alsa_in . Are the clicks and pops you ref...

My user belongs to realtime group and audio group.merlyn wrote:@crocket One thing I noticed is that on your desktop you're using the 'audio' group but /etc/security/limits.d/40-realtime-base.conf refers to the 'realtime' group.

Re: How can I eliminate pop sounds from alsa_in and zita-a2j working on ALSA loopback?
I tested zita-a2j and alsa_in for days. It seems that there are occasional pops from zita-a2j and alsa_in.
Is it really impossible to eliminate pops from zita-a2j and alsa_in when they get sound from ALSA loopback?

Re: How can I eliminate pop sounds from alsa_in and zita-a2j working on ALSA loopback?
It doesn't say anything about ignoring self-disconnect requests. Neither it does. Is that a problem? It seems that I eliminated pops and crackles from alsa_in on ALSA loopback. But, I won't be totally sure until I have tested it for long enough. Refer to the configuration I wrote above. I updated it.

Yes, firefox disconnects connections to itself and makes connections to system ports.merlyn wrote:Neither it does. Is that a problem?crocket wrote:It doesn't say anything about ignoring self-disconnect requests.
I saw it happen on qjackctl.

Wow. Thanks for sharing the process. I'm not at my desktop right now so I can't do a full reply. Now that you've sorted that you can fix Firefox. :) jackd has options to restrict self-connect requests. I think it's -e for ignore all. I don't see an option to restrict self-connect or self-disconnect...
