Re: AV Linux Evolution-Mailprogramm

Hi, Evolution is extremely Gnome-heavy and to be honest I don't really test any email clients with AV Linux but it shouldn't require a password or be run as sudo. I have installed it here on my dev machine and it launched right away with its setup dialog, it didn't ask for any password. The 'guru me...

Re: Guitarix.vst v0.1 released

Downloaded the binary I could not get it to work in any host until I installed "libcurl-gnutls4" (using opensuse tumbleweed). Thankfully Ardour had a helpful error message. Hmmm, this seems to be a common issue with many VST3 Plugins both FLOSS and Commercial, is it some kind of baked-in ...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.1 (AVL-MXe) Released!

Hello GMaq! Excellent ... flawless performance on my rig! When needed I can use QjackCtl and route apps without a hitch ... PipeWire obviously runs in the background and I can use Jack as I've always done before ... Video creation poses no probs either. Simple question ... I notice that there is a ...

Re: AV Linux 23.1 on external SSD

Hi, I think this is possible and on a USB3 system would probably work quite well especially if you run the OS off the SSD and have the data on the laptop hard drive.. You could achieve much the same thing simply running AVL Live off a large USB3 key with persistence enabled to save your changes.. I'...

To my knowledge PipeWire doesn't have JACK transport [...]

not true

PW does have JACK-transport alright, although it might not strictly on par to genuine and good-ol'JACK ;)

hth.

Thanks for the correction!

Will this update to the MX-23.2 base itself in the future?

Yes, regular repository updates will automatically bring in the MX-23.2 base update.

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.1 (AVL-MXe) Released!

Hi sunrat,

True, backports are also an option, I kind of keep them as a secondary option and prefer MX Test as the first place to go, to be honest I don't know which upstream Debian source Stevo uses for PipeWire packaging

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.1 (AVL-MXe) Released!

(1) As mentioned above, pimp-wire just ain't mature enough ... problematics with rig-types/models and/or external interfaces. A brief analytical look at all the various posts on this site as well as the Mx Forums says mountains (2) You've probably alienated a lot of former AVLinux users with your i...

Re: The next AVLinux with Ardour8 and pipewire?

For my part - it's the re learning of configuration of devices that's been stable for years. I don't even know the names of the utilities i need to use. I have a bunch of keybindings that interact with pulseaudio and jack - I'll need to spend weeks researching alternatives. Does pipewire offer tran...

Everything works like a train toilet, as they say here in Finland. Means it works for sure.

That may be my new tagline... "AV Linux, works like a train toilet..."
