Re: Realtime priority?

Thanks for the reply! Sorry for my delay. Well I can see rtirq in the Manjaro repos so I could install it. But unless I'm mistaken, it looks like it's only for use with RT kernels..? As for Xruns, I don't get many depending on my settings. Currently, I have an Audient ID4 set to 88200Hz sample rate ...

Re: Realtime priority?

I wasn't worried about breaking the system so much. I just wanted to have the setting at the recommended value for good audio performance. But are you saying this value in Cadence is actually a priority setting just for Jack? If that's the case, I'm not sure what the soundcard priority is set to. I'...

Re: EZdrummer 2 working on Linux?

If it makes any difference, Steven Slate Drums 4 randomly just started working for me the other day after years of trying it with no luck. I think it must've been a WINE update. I have 5.6 (Staging) on Manjaro, BTW. It doesn't have some of the functionality when it comes to quickly finding grooves n...

Realtime priority?

I'm using Cadence on Manjaro and I was looking in the Cadence settings and saw 'Realtime Priority' which had a value of 10. I tried raising it to 95 because I thought that was the number it's usually recommended to be at for audio stuff (?), but it made no difference as far as I could tell. I wasn't...

Re: How long do you need to finish a song?

Gps I know what you mean. Everything is so overwhelming at the start and it takes years to even begin to get good so it's really good for you to step back and acknowledge your accomplishments once in a while. The thing is, don't you find you say to yourself "If I can just make songs that good,...

[SOLVED!] Trouble with Best Service/Magix Engine library (Era II Medieval Legends)

I've managed to get the Best Service/Magix 'Engine' plugin installed and working. I then directed it to my 'Era II Medieval Legends' library, saved preferences and restarted the plugin as instructed. But when I go to load an instrument, it complains about not being able to find Wave files in an imag...

Re: How long do you need to finish a song?

Short answer: Months. Long answer: I usually get the core sort of 'hook' of a song going in the first couple of days. Usually within the first few days, I'll have something that starts to resemble a basic song with a structure, although this can take longer if I'm making synth patches from scratch....

Re: Manjaro - Cadence doesn't start properly?

I also run Manjaro KDE with Cadence and I have the same issue most times I boot up. The problem for me is the PulseAudio bridge. You only need to stop and start that rather than the entire jack server (It's much more convenient this way). I have enabled the option to autostart the bridge at login bu...

Re: Midi controller not working in Bitwig (Works in WINE though)

I had to run those commands a little differently: a2j_control usage: a2j_control [-h] [--start] [--stop] [--exit] [--status] [--gjcn] [--ma2jp MA2JP MA2JP] [--ma2jc MA2JC MA2JC] [--mj2a MJ2A] [--ehw] [--dhw] [--aup] [--dup] Bridge ALSA MIDI to JACK MIDI optional arguments: -h, --help show this help ...

Re: Midi controller not working in Bitwig (Works in WINE though)

Well I just looked at it in my package manager and it's required by xdg-desktop-portal & xdg-desktop-portal-kde. I'm using the KDE version of Manjaro. I guess it's just integrated in my distro version somehow. Thiking about it more, I'd rather not mess with it to be honest because it might open ...

Re: Midi controller not working in Bitwig (Works in WINE though)

Yeh nevermind. I'll go back to FL Studio via WINE for now. One day I'll find my Linux DAW :) I tried what you said though. I got the message saying the resource is busy even after stopping the midi bridge with Cadence. So then I did aconnect --list which returned this client 0: 'System' [type=kernel...

Re: Midi controller not working in Bitwig (Works in WINE though)

Edit: Nevermind. I've decided to get a refund on Bitwig. I wasn't getting along with the program as it was and this issue was the finishing move.

Midi controller not working in Bitwig (Works in WINE though)

I've tried to setup my midi controller (M-Audio Oxygen 49) via Jack in Bitwig Studio but it doesn't seem to do anything when I press the keys. I normally use FL Studio via WINE where my midi controller works perfectly. So I'd have thought it'd work when using a Linux native DAW, but, apparently not!...

Re: Supported Audio Interface Information

I was just about to post a thread asking for suggestions on audio interfaces but I found your one so I'll see what suggestions you get first before starting my own thread. Anyway, I've been using the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 for years on loads of different Ubuntu based distros and now, Manjaro. It's w...
