Re: dkbuilder: from circuit to LV2 plugin

Here is a paste of my modified VCA: https://pastebin.com/3ZcvUpAX When I try to build it, I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "./build-plug.py", line 258, in <module> main(sys.argv[1:]) File "./build-plug.py", line 255, in main dk.build() File "./build-plug.py&quo...

Re: dkbuilder: from circuit to LV2 plugin

When making oscillator simulation for my theremin viewtopic.php?f=52&p=102700 Here we hit a border, as oscillator simulation didn't work very well with the dk builder. Anyway, the pitch oscillator of a theremin is a beat oscillator made of 2 RF oscillators. Their frequency is around 800 kHz in ...

Re: dkbuilder: from circuit to LV2 plugin

Thanks for the explanation and the links. Is it possible to use the dkbuilder with 2 inputs and 1 input schematic like a VCA? Another question is that I don't understand if the "--table n" option must be used just to show a diagram, or if dkbuilder need it for some circuits to be correctly...

Re: dkbuilder: from circuit to LV2 plugin

What are the models for the diodes and transistors, the ones from spice or ngspice, or some other? And for the tubes, is it the Koran model or another one? When making oscillator simulation for my theremin https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&p=102700 I found than the best suited model ...

Re: Song vs. Instrumental

In French, a morceau, piece in English, is a generic term that fit every piece of music in existence. I think it is the same in English for piece.

For big artwork made of several pieces like an opera, we will use oeuvre (artwork) for the whole stuff and mouvement or morceau for the individual pieces.

Re: gentoostudio

I think both overlays will coexist for a while. They don't provide the same software at the exception of ladish. I prefer the way proaudio manage ladish because it doesn't blok the portage packages which depends on lash. It will remain so until that mess is fixed in portage. I prefer to have a worki...

Re: gentoostudio

@proaudio overlay For anyone interested in this, the proaudio overlay has been removed from gentoo's overlay list, which means it's no longer available through layman and no longer mirrored on github. It's been removed because it had too many (quality) issues which weren't getting fixed. See https:...

Re: Song vs. Instrumental

For me a piece of music without lyrics is an instrumental song, or in short an instrumental. After, it can be cultural differences. As example, how do you will call this? UUTAi Olena - Siberian shaman lady A song? an instrumental? a singed instrumental? a lyricless song? I will call this a song beca...

Re: MUSIC DISTROS

To answer the original question, I would not recommend gentoo to a linux beginner, but with one exception if he/she is someone that want to learn how a GNU/linux system is really working. To install gentoo can be a challenge, the documentation is at the level of the task, but if all you know is to c...

Re: MUSIC DISTROS

Grub's 'os-prober' misses the mark sometimes, simple as that, Does it run every boot or does it run only when you invoke the command to update GRUB config? It seems the latter which is retarded. From the grub2 page on the gentoo wiki: The os-prober run during the configuration of grub, it is grub-m...

Re: dkbuilder: from circuit to LV2 plugin

Thank you! It look to work fine. It is a typo into BigMuffPi.sch. I get Traceback (most recent call last): File "./build-plug.py", line 258, in <module> main(sys.argv[1:]) File "./build-plug.py", line 255, in main dk.build() File "./build-plug.py", line 201, in build c1...

Re: Why learn music theory?

I begun to play music by following classical music curses. 2 years piano first and after 2 or 3 years guitar. This made me completely unable to play the most simple blues. It took me more than 1 year playing the same 12 mesures blues to finally get it: that's so simple. I also took 2 years curses in...

Re: How long do you need to finish a song?

I play mostly acoustical songs, by acoustical I mean the voice and anything that can produce a sound, with or without an amplifier. To finish a song, the faster I can do is to record it when playing guitar. The earlier in the process, the better. I use 4 tracks, 2 are from a stereo mic that give me ...

Re: The Everything Songwriting Book: Can Lyrics Be Skipped?

I agree with Metrophage. A song is a song, and when birds are making music for our ears when singing, human beings are using words. These words are the meaning of a song and the music is just an accompagnement. Which imply I always write the lyrics first, because its meaning and ambiance give me the...

Re: dkbuilder: from circuit to LV2 plugin

Hi Hermann,Thanks for your good work. I was not aware of that rename situation between distributions, but hopefully never used it into the scripts I published. I am always using mv to rename files. Also I found than using sh in scripts can be a little bit tricky because debian use dash when gentoo u...
