upgrading kx trusty to ubuntu 16
hi all ... im running a kxstudio trusty lowlatency setup + XFce 4.10 and i would like to update ubuntu from 14 to 16 or even 17 if thats recommendable, mainly because i want to upgrade to XFce 4.12. - is that problematic, will the core of kxstudio still work? - is there a lowlatency kernel in 16? - ...

Re: KXStudio with XFCE
my setup is kxstudio with the linux lowlatency kernel 3.13.0-125. yesterday ive replaced kde with XFce 4.10 which is as simple as as installing "xfce4" via the package manager. it made everything simpler and better looking and i can totally recommend that especially if you can spend some t...

Re: virtual ALSA midi device for BITWIG studio?
hi falktx ... midi bridge needs to be off for any midi to work in bitwig so jackass is no option. there is no no virtual alsa midi device around? right now i can send midi data to bitwig by pluging the output of my midi-sport 1 into midisport-2 ... but thats kind of dumb.

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + ffado HELP
Grab a 4-5 years old Workstation loaded with a nice bunch Xeons and plenty of RAM for around 500 bucks (HP is a very good option), add a (currently cheap) 9652 and you'll have a killer machine to run with KXS or AV Linux for years. thanks for all the good advice! i built a really cheap new machine ...

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + ffado HELP
damn, i think i found the bad apple in my setup! i do all my sequencing with custom patches that ive written in pure data. i was running pure data with the "callback" option in the audio setup for jack, my ff800 wouldnt work without it a year ago. i switched callbacks off to test something...

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + ffado HELP
this looks really promising, it has a pci slot so you can add a ti cipset firewire 400. no fan! i dont know what to with 6 serial ports but actually its really good for controlling all sorts of stuff i think. even midi via rs232 is rock solid. opinions? http://www.cappuccinopc.com/twister-77-6c.asp ...

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + ffado HELP

Re: hints for stable setup for jack + ffado HELP
