[SOLVED] Lexicon Omega doesn't work

Hi. I just bought a brand new Lexicon Omega audio interface. Either it's broken or I am doing something wrong. I plugged it on to the AC power and lights lit up. It's my first time with this unit or this model at all, but I've read the manual and find it strange that the top row (Mic 1/2) and second...

Re: Muffled jack

Thank you, linuxdsp. Your message is very informative. Now, I don't like to change the subject, but you mentioned: Its quite common for problems to arise due to jack picking up the wrong soundcard (hw0 for example refers to 'the first soundcard discovered by the kernel' which is essentially random a...

Re: Muffled jack

What if I want to record and generate 48,000Hz (or even higher) WAVs?

Re: Muffled jack

Have you trying changing the sampling rate yet? Like using 44100 instead of 48000 (or the reverse). Picking up from where I left off, sometimes I still feel that music sounds better when played through pure ALSA. I did have the impression that Jack sounds better at 44,100Hz than at 48,000Hz. I test...

Re: jack doesn't work after upgrade

I checked 'ps aux' before I came here. Only jackdbus was running, so I killed it (killed Cadence first) and still had the problems. Now, pulseaudio is something I'm always hunting instinctively. If it sneaks in somehow, I'll spot it soon. I had lots of problems with it in the past. I wish it would d...

Re: jack doesn't work after upgrade

Hmm... Well, I never count on that because this is, you know, Linux.

But it worked. I rebooted and now everything seems to be working. Well, at least jack, Audacious, Cadence and even Qtractor are working. I'll come back to bawl and mope if anything goes awry.

Thank you!

Re: jack doesn't work after upgrade

I just ran 'apt-get update' and rechecked the list of upgradeable packages. There is nothing new or pending there. I think they do match. Sometimes images are more explanatory, so I am posting these 4 shots: http://img.ctrlv.in/img/15/04/05/552137badf901.png http://img.ctrlv.in/img/15/04/05/55213781...

jack doesn't work after upgrade

I decided to upgrade because qtractor never worked for me. qtractor: undefined symbol: JACK_METADATA_PRETTY_NAME I googled and saw that someone had that problem with jalv and fixed it by upgrading jackd2. I ran synaptic (Debian Wheezy) and saw that there was indeed a new version of jackd2 available....

Browser hates big buffer (and other questions)

I have a problem with the Chromium browser. I can't play Soundcloud tracks on it anymore. Well, I can, but I thought I couldn't. Here is the story: I have been investigating jackd. It's something I avoided for years, but now I need it. I installed jackd and a few programs about a month ago. It worke...

Re: Muffled jack

Hey. Thank you for the positive comments. I appreciate them. Let me tell you, before I signed up to this forum, I had read these pages: http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/kxstudio_manual ...and they didn't help me much. Even worse, I have had qjackctl installed for almost a month, I have tinkered with ...

Re: Muffled jack

Oh, you're the one who told me to Read The Friendly Manual in reply to an extremely simple question. Silly me. I suppose that sort of clears things up. Sorry for any trouble.

Re: Muffled jack

Yes, I would love to stick with ALSA and "not bother" with anything else, but the software I need requires jack. You either are remarkably uninformed about how music creation in Linux works or you are politely telling me to f*** off. Which one is true doesn't matter. I will gladly assume i...

Re: Muffled jack

ps aux | grep jack Short enough? :) Oh, that. Sure, I know that. I'm a frequent ps aux gazer. I never start jackd myself, since I don't like it. It's always some application, usually Ardour. I just launched Ardour and now jackd is running like this: /usr/bin/jackd -T -ndefault -p 128 -r -T -d alsa ...

Re: Muffled jack

From the article:

"JACK does not need to be complicated"

Hahahahaha! :D

"Hey, how do I check my jackd settings?"

"Here, read this 3,250-word long introduction for beginners."

Sure. Not complicated indeed. :D

Re: Novation / Focusrite competition

No.

But my hands-down browser is Chromium, which is maintained by free software contributors and I use sparingly. Do you think it would be so vulnerable that a research site could be harmful to the entire machine?
