Re: Sightreading
OK, fair enough. Although I would still say that sight reading is reading the music like you would read a book, and playing it instantly without having to look for the notes on the keyboard ;) I'm also interested in what briandc is looking for. I don't know about you, but I learned to read and writ...

Re: Bluetooth Speaker from Ubuntu Studio / Jack
I've searched that high and low. After a lot of reading, I've come to believe that PulseAudio is the only way.

So, what's this fork of OpenOctave going to be called, so I can keep a watch on it?falkTX wrote:OpenOctave is abandoned and hasn't had any work done on it since 2012.
But a fork of it will appear later this year

Re: Application request: big mixer slash plugin host
This seems to be pretty much what I wanted when I started this thread:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jackmixdesk/
It won't build in my system though.

Re: Medeli DD305?
Well, I saw someone complain (in Spanish) that the sample sound configuration changes randomly mid-session: http://www.hispasonic.com/foros/ayuda-bateria-electronica/484016 And someone in this ALSA thread describes it as "Another USB MIDI device that cannot handle more than four bytes per packe...

Medeli DD305?
I am considering buying a Medeli DD305 portable drum set and would like to know about other people's experience with it. More specifically, does it work well with Linux and Hydrogen over MIDI, because that's how I intend to use it. I googled a lot for it and can't find the information. One, only one...

Configure Cadence programatically/on command line
I am inclined to "preserving" my USB audio interface: I only turn it on when I actually need it. For everyday ordinary audio, I turn it off and use the internal sound card. I follow this procedure: - Turn it on. - Click Cadence on the system tray. - Click Stop. - Click Configure. - Switch ...

Re: Broken dependencies: festige and dssi-vst
His system already doesn't work for what he needs, so there was little to lose, Hmm. That is far from true. This is a production machine I've been referring to, which I use to work and make my living. I have backups, but time is precious and I definitely must avoid computer headaches. I liked the s...

Re: Broken dependencies: festige and dssi-vst
Thank you. Can you please enlighten me on the following problems: I added the i386 architecture and updated apt. After a while, I got this message: Failed to fetch http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/dists/jessie-backports/main/binary-i386/Packages Hash Sum mismatch Failed to fetch http://ftp.us.debian....

Broken dependencies: festige and dssi-vst
I am running Debian Jessie and can't install dssi-vst. Synaptic says: dssi-vst: Depends: dssi-vst-bridge (=1:0.9.2+git20140805-1kxstudio3) but it is not installable Indeed, there isn't any dssi-vst-bridge package in the repositories. festige: Depends: python-qt4 but it is not going to be installed D...

Re: Application request: big mixer slash plugin host
For the Gain control, you could use a plugin, and for connect it with your midi controller, there is the jm2cv daemon, to allow MIDI controller mapping to non-mixer controls. https://github.com/harryhaaren/jm2cv And this is *one* of the reasons why I hate compiling stuff... Re: Application request: big mixer slash plugin host
If you can get me someone to do the graphics, I can do a Carla mixer style frontend easily. It can work as 1 carla-rack per mixer channel. Or better, if someone can work on some interface (doesn't have to be python or Qt), this could be done even faster. :) I only know Tcl/Tk. But I would have no i...

Re: Application request: big mixer slash plugin host
Interesting. I didn't know that Non-Mixer could host plugins. That is sort of hidden. It's good that I can host all plugins and add, remove or bypass them without having to disconnect and/or reconnect anything. It's also very, very good that I can save and reload all channel strips with their plugin...

Application request: big mixer slash plugin host
I would like to ask someone, anyone, to make an application. I am throwing a bottle into the ocean here. Maybe it will never get any attention, but who knows, it's worth a try. I've been using an app called "Jack Mixer." The executable's name is jack_mixer. What I like the most about it is...
