Re: The composer's toolbox

What is everybody else doing? Why are you using this and not that? Should I be doing what you're doing? Heh. :D After some thinking and reflecting on past incidents in Linux audio land, I guess I can see why this discussion is needed. It might even be, for some folks I know, vital. However, I'd sug...

Re: The composer's toolbox

Maybe I'm nitpicking, but scorewriting (and Lilypond) is only one half of Laborejo. The other half is sequencing, so technically it comes under the 'Sequencer+Scorewriter' category...nothing major though. I'm sort of missing the point of this thread, though...and am unconvinced as to how it would he...

You sure it's ALSA? That's (also) a known Flash player bug... O_o

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO

The Aviv - SSO is no good for professional works. Used in combination with Fluid R3 it makes for strictly okay, semi-pro stuff. It shouldn't be abandoned outright (unless of course a better alternative presents itself). About what you say - I'm not sure if you read this thread I pointed you to - htt...

Re: Musescore + Sonatina

Firstly...SSO Soundfonts ? I was under the impression that they were SFZs and not SF2s, unless someone out there made an SF2 version? :? Secondly, the better way to use many sample formats in one scorewriter is not to implement a sampler in the scorewriter but to connect the scorewriter to another s...

Try catching the user 'rgareus' on IRC channels #ardour or maybe #lad, on irc.freenode.net. As far as I am led to understand, he's the maintainer of linuxaudio.org. Even if he isn't in charge of the download section, he'd know who is. :)

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO

I am also wondering why JSampler displays incorrect ranges for the SSO instruments? This seems to be a bug. JSampler's keyboard always shows the range an octave lower. I posted about this at the LinuxSampler forum. Just in case - do check what key has been mentioned in the SFZ file. It is possible ...

Re: auto-routing

this sounds like an interesting solution. Could you perhaps share the scripts that you wrote? I'm pretty comfortable with bash scripting but I haven't done much linux audio scripting. In the meantime, I checked out aj-snapshot. It is AMAZING. I use my bash scripts very rarely now that I use aj-snap...

Re: My second album finally finished!

Yo, zth :D Bit strange to see someone put up their own album on TPB - perhaps it's been done before but a little strange nonetheless ;) Downloading it, will comment after hearing... By the way, OSDK and many other sample libraries can be conveniently downloaded from here (OSDK is under SFZ) - http:/...

Re: Should KXStudio repos move to Debian?

I voted no because as far as i can tell 99% of my friends who run linux on their machine run an Ubuntu LTS and I do too; a pair of them use it for audio production and most of them like Unity, Steam support, ecc. I don't belive this kind of people would like to switch from Ubuntu, wich is already a...

Re: Please, stop the FLOSS donation guilt trips and begging!

Danboid... releasing something for free and then crying that no-one is donating or you're not receiving enough donations is what I'd like to see less of. I guess I'd agree, although I suppose it could also be out of sheer frustration that a dev would say that. As most of FOSS starts off as scratchin...

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO

Hi. Hello fellow Linux musicians, I tried to test the Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra with JSampler - but it fails to load the solo instruments. I read the thread SSO and QSampler [SOLVED] and downloaded the OpenOctave MIDI version of SSO (from the OOM library ). I found no differences between the two ...
