Re: Anyone able to get the Scarlett 6i6 working with PulseAu
AFAIK the interface would have to work with ALSA before JACK can see it. From the comments on that post it seems that some tweaks are required for some of the Scarlett range, e.g. disabling the ALSA mixer. See http://sergey.vlasov.me/2012/09/using-focusrite-scarlett-18i6-in-linux.html Perhaps these ...

Re: Any recommended PCIe audio card?
I'm thinking of updating my 6 year old system at some point, but would like to keep using my M-Audio Delta 66. I've heard that some Intel boards have issues with PCI support that may affect audio. Perhaps someone knows which chipsets are better for those looking to upgrade. In my case the upgrade wo...

Re: Linux Mint 15 - WineAsio
This didn't seem to stop me installing some KXStudio apps. I've now got Ardour 3.3 and Cadence (plus other apps). Initially I was getting loads of xruns until I added myself to the audio group and installed a low latency kernel. Cadence warned me about both of those. After that I got zero xruns. I d...

@afflicto, did you get anywhere with this? I'm just trying to install KX on Mint 15 and got the same error for

Re: Wiki merge
I've noticed an issue with the migration. It has used section names for some pages. See http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/hardware_matrix How do we change page names? Is this something that can be scripted? I'm not entirely sure what you mean - do you mean that dokuwiki seems to use the name of the f...

Re: Update hardware matrix wiki?
I've consolidated the M-Audio MIDI into one page at http://wiki.linuxmusicians.com/doku.php?id=m-audio_midi_interfaces. I have the Uno which needed an extra driver. Did you not need that for the MIDISPORT? I'm not sure if we need to list more USB 1.1 devices unless they do something special as they ...

Re: Audio card
There is a list of some USB interfaces known to be working with Linux at http://wiki.linuxmusicians.com/doku.php?id=hardware_matrix Some of the newer USB 2.0 interfaces work now. I just noticed something about the M-Audio Fast Track C600 in the 3.9 kernel change log, so looked that up and added it. ...

Re: Ubuntu Audio Interface Help
I can vouch that the M-Audio cards are plug and play. I picked up a Delta 66 and the Omni I/O box on ebay for around £100 altogether. The Omni is ideal for me as I can plug guitar or bass into the pre-amp inputs and you get two headphone outputs too. Having extra inputs can be useful if you want to ...

Re: OSM, FOSS & Linux Audio User Locations
For what purpose? Personally I have no intention of giving Google even more data than they have already about me. Location-based sites like this have the potential to help you find people if your area with similar interests, if you want to. Your choice. I've played with http://www.musomap.com/ that...

Re: New Ardour website
@steevc: I think they could do with a better way to show what interfaces are supported. They state that if your OS has drivers for an interface then Ardour will work with it - Ardour doesn't care what (if any) audio interface you have, Ardour talks to JACK, JACK talks to the (ALSA, FFADO, etc drive...

Re: New Ardour website
The new site looks good. I find that some open source project sites don't make it obvious what the software actually does, but this one now reads like a professional brochure. There's a few inconsistencies in the layout, but nothing serious I've spotted. I need to have a look at the reference manual...

Re: Sound card for starting
I think one of the main choices for interfaces is how many inputs and outputs you need. If you are just recording one instrument at a time then 2 inputs may be enough. You would need more and 2 outputs for surround, but I wonder if an optical output to a surround amplifier would work better. I've no...
