Re: drums in syntesized midi

I use qjackctl, rosegarden and qsynth mostly with standard midi synths or the ZYNADDSUBFX dssi plugin and/or Hydrogen. I'd like to get a drum sound similar to what 's in here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEeqramL4mQ Any suggestions? Is that a kick? I normally set my backing tracks up in rosegard...

Re: drums in syntesized midi

Thanks guys! now i have something to go on, like it is in fact a kick sound. I would never have thought of using effects on it. I can try hydrogen or midi to begin, then i'll amplify and compress, etc. The sidechaining i never heard about before but it's very interesting for other jobs as well. I lo...

Re: VLC to start using JACK in AUTO?

I'm revisiting this again because I'm not getting what I want. When I start qJackCtl (guitar sessions because Audacity records really nicely with jack, not so hot without it) I want everything music to use jack. The VLC prefs doesn't work anymore via the show-all route; what do I put into "Conn...

19.06 for Leap 15.1 available in Geekos DAW repo https://software.opensuse.org//download.html?project=home%3Ageekositalia%3Adaw&package=rosegarden That's the tumbleweed (factory) package and it raises dependency issues solving which may render Yast inoperative. I need it in the Leap repo. I've ...

Re: Rosegarden 17.12 couple of probs

Have you contacted the developers? Rosegarden is actively being worked on. Not yet, I'll put myself on the mailing list Meanwhile i seem to have got rid of another problem. Two of the tracks in one piece kept reverting to another instrument regardless of what synth was assigned (gm or zyn). I final...

Re: Rosegarden 17.12 couple of probs

I did get my tumbleweed working again by recovering a month-old earlier image and Rosegarden-19.06 bundled with it has working sliders. The channel numbers still show only before loading a file though. I also have a Debian based studio AV-Linux installation but haven't booted it in ages because one...

Re: Rosegarden 17.12 couple of probs

I'm a big fan of keeping multiple distros up and running linux audio apps. thanks for the advice, hehe, i would be too but i'm too old to manage the one i'm most used to I did get my tumbleweed working again by recovering a month-old earlier image and Rosegarden-19.06 bundled with it has working sl...

Rosegarden 17.12 couple of probs

Just installed Suse Leap 15.1 and the Rosegarden 'Studio>AudioMixer' 1 channel numbers appear only while there is no file loaded, they vanish as soon as I load a song (they're also too small to read on a high-res monitor) 2 the channel volume sliders have no effect on volume Anyone out there with th...

{SOLVED} Re: Suse TW + Pulse, Audacity: cannot record (AGAIN)

Thank you. What would disabling the sound card(s) accomplish? How can you get sound without them? My guitar is plugged into the Me-80 effectbox the 'RecOut' from which is plugged into the Line-In socket of the sound-card. This setup works very nicely with Audacity with or without Jack (WHEN it works...

Suse TW + Pulse, Audacity: cannot record (AGAIN)

Using two slightly date-different installations of Suse-Tumbleweed I lost recording capability with Audacity on the newer installation that's about two weeks old. I normally use Audacity with/without Jack and these are the same version numbers and configs but pulse is newer on the newer installation...

Re: dssi (Zyn) VS. standalone synths

Use Zyn as LV2 plugin. I don't think lv2 is supported in Rosegarden, if so I have no idea how to use it. As far as the standalone Zyn it doesn't remember paths so to load a config file from 10 deep in the tree for each of maybe 6 or 9 instances I find myself clicking path dialogues for an hour befo...

Re: dssi (Zyn) VS. standalone synths

I've been using the Zyn dssi (ZASF) with rosegarden but ran into trouble with it there as well as in Ardour. So when I asked around in the Ardour chatroom one reply was to just forget about dssi's as they were being 'phased out' and to use the standalone synth instead ..which means a lot more work ...
