Re: Move KXStudio to ArchLinux?

Hi falkTX, I'm voting no to the change because I have been an ubuntu user for several years and I like the familiarity. That being said I would still run KXStudio on ArchLinux (or anything else) if it moved. I have installed it on my laptop and desktop and I love it. As a techy geek I don't mind pla...

Re: Problems loading previously saved studio

Hi falkTX, Recently, I've found that even using previously configured ladish sessions will crash jack. I have to create a new studio and room before I can import my existing projects. Trying to reload existing ladish studio configurations ALWAYS crashes Jack. It's been like this for a while now. Vir...

Re: Call for Testing - Cadence pre-Beta

Anyway, this is why ladish has rooms vs studios. Studios define an entire JACK setup, while rooms are used for "projects inside the studio". You should create studios for different hardware setups, but use the rooms for projects. I didn't know this. I've been creating a studio per song. I...

Re: Call for Testing - Cadence pre-Beta

Just found another fix for this without editing files.

I launch my claudia/ladish session .... jack crashes.

I then launch QjackCtl, configure my preferred interface and the session launches instantly.
Hope this helps someone.

Re: Call for Testing - Cadence pre-Beta

Hi falkTX, Thanks for the quick response. but first, can you confirm me that the hardware/device detection is working now? both the old method and new one only show hw:Intel (hw:0) devices... Yes. With the new version my usb device is instantly detected when plugged in. Loopback devices are ignored ...

Re: Call for Testing - Cadence pre-Beta

It seems to me that the new device-discovery method (calling "aplay -l") doesn't actually report all ALSA devices. You showed me your previous output of 'aplay -l', but hw:3 is not listed there. How is this possible? It is no longer attached ... this is my point. If a claudia/ladish sessi...

Re: Call for Testing - Cadence pre-Beta

Hi falkTX, Just updated and it is still broken for me! Restored claudia sessions crash jack. This is also related to the hardware detection I think. I have an Alesis IO2 usb adapter. The sessions are usually saved with this hardware configured in jack. If I restore a session without the Alesis attac...

Re: Call for Testing - Cadence pre-Beta

Re: Issues with latest Cadence version on ubuntu precise

Had problems yesterday. I just updated my system again and I'm having more problems! Can't start jack from cadence and no jack bridges etc so my system is broken. Is it possible to revert to an older working version? If so what command do I need. Missing my music :( Regards Barney Not complaining. K...

Re: Ladish : Studios, Rooms and Projects

I guess you already read the tutorials: http://www.penguinproducer.com/2011/12/the-ladi-session-handler/ and: http://ladish.org/wiki/tutorial I haven't created any rooms or projects yet because I don't understand the concept. I use a studio as a song, so for me each studio loads that song and all re...

KXStudio - Thanks!

Just wanted to say a huge thanks to falkTX and team for KXStudio. I installed 12.04 over UbuntuStudio and it was quite easy. I have the same setup on my desktop and laptop now, the only difference is I have the realtime kernel on my laptop. Currently learning gladish/Claudia to get a studio set up f...

Re: Alesis IO2 Express midi - problem

OK ... the Alesis works fine! I think my original problem was not using a2jmidi. Then when I tried it again Jack hadn't started properly (wrong soundcard configured) so it got confused. Just plugged it into a running system and it appeared as a named device (red midi) in patchage and it works. Thank...

Re: Alesis IO2 Express midi - problem

Thanks for the suggestions. I am now running kxstudio. My new midi to usb adapter works great with a2j. Tried the Alesis again but still no luck [SOLVED NOW]. Doesn't appear as a named device in patchage as a a2j red midi port like the midi/usb adapter does. Appreciate all the advice. I'm happy 'cos...

Re: Alesis IO2 Express midi - problem

Thanks Aaron, Thanks for doing the test. I guess the problem is outside of the Alesis then. I did notice that the midi light was constantly flashing when the lead was connected from my Yamaha Arius, is that normal? I'm guessing it's either a dodgy cable or the midi from the yamaha is unreliable. Tha...

[SOLVED] Alesis IO2 Express midi - problem

Hi All, I am very pleased with my first steps into linux DAW. I have installed Ubuntu Studio 12.04 and I have bought the Alesis IO2 which works great for audio. Today I tried to use an external midi keyboard to work through the Alesis and I had nothing but problems and random occasional midi notes w...
