Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

So we can agree that 'free', is not a term to be used describing software drivers.
Fair enough.

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

So where are AMD and Intel, and the other industry giants that are directly competing AGAINST nvidia for those millions of linux customers? The entourage seeking free nVidia sourcecode may indeed be vast, but I doubt they will be any more successful than random strangers. Valuable source code is rel...

Re: Question about CPU

What requires more computer resources (cpu, ram, etc)--- an external synth sending only sound in, or an external midi controller sending in only midi signals, to a softsynth? Thanks! brian Make sure your cpu(s) are not scaled for energy conservation, you want equal and full access to all cores. Use...

I'm planning my "Ultimate System," so any information available would be helpful to me so I can decide whether to go 32-bit or 64-bit. Peace, David Bodhi linux is ubuntu based, with e17 gui, at 400 meg or so, it is fast, unbloated, well maintained, and handy for those desiring repository ...

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

I think as far as moderation goes, there is a learning curve, responsibilities, but no paycheck. So I won't expect perfection, but make the occasional suggestion. The advantage of freely airing different opinions, is that when it is well stated, you get to understand the other persons position, whil...

Driver version labor costs are real, and billed out as OS product version updates, or upgrades, new hardware versions adding Mac or 64bit support, integration of new default technologies like hdmi, 1080p, multi-monitor support, additional cpu architectures, rendering engines, yada yada In the linux ...

Re: What VST plugins have you found work well with Festige?

The Serina gear also works for me using the old fst command, perhaps not included in modern distros, but still valuable. fst /home/username/TSE_X50_B3.dll newer and better are not always congruent  A different version of wine may also help. Perhaps the new KX release has a loader for .dll vsts?

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

So a random stranger, asking a giant corporation to give up a cornerstone of their business, so he/she can be in some way, 'happier', is deemed an intelligent question, but my response pointing out the realities of 'ownership' in day-to-day reality gets removed? Its your forum, make it a religious s...

Re: KXStudio needs a P.R. person

The typical windows user can probably watch a youtube linux demo, without needing to learn any terminal commands. But its all downhill, from there  Videos are great promo tools, and don't impose the need for reading skills on the viewer. A hoovered archive of such videos would be a worthy down...

Re: KXStudio needs a P.R. person

But where?

Find a place that is warm, with fresh fish and produce, low taxes,
lacking abusive local zoning regulations, and with a reasonably active economy.

New York? Toronto? Hollywood ? Paris? Moscow? Peking? Nope. Keep searching.

They are out there, and worth the move.

Re: KXStudio needs a P.R. person

I've had a serious reversal in thinking about wanting to convert people from Windows to linux. win/mac hobbyist musicians squander countless studio hours trying to convert one another to the latest DAW upgrade, and newest superior vsts they prefer...this week  Imagine the music that could hav...
