Re: VST instruments in Carla
Try running Bristol via the Kluadia launcher Will do! Thanks! ------------- I also found an interesting read here: http://lwn.net/Articles/502183/ with a link to some interesting synths made for Linux (don't know if they're new or if it's just me) here: http://www.loomer.co.uk/ I might try them ton...

Re: VST instruments in Carla
Last night, I couldn't get all the synths in Bristol to produce sound. I also noticed that the Brighton GUI for Bristol is not installed as default. Should I not use Brighton? Should I open Bristol only at the command line, or is there another app that can control it better?

Re: VST instruments in Carla
err, I think you're confusing the 'VST' thing here. VST is not a regular file (like a sf2 sample bank), it's actually a binary (just like an executable). For this reason there are Windows VSTs and Linux VSTs. We're using Linux here, so native Linux plugins are always the prefered way to go. I don't...

Re: VST instruments in Carla
You're using KXStudio the wrong way. You should never get 3rd party software from external sources, but only through the repositories. This allows package&software signing (so you know it's safe to use) and automatic updates. Those plugins on the jucetice page are **damn old** and don't work an...

VST instruments in Carla
Hi everyone, I'm absolutely LOVING KXStudio!! I'm telling everyone about it, and people are curious to know more! I have a question about a Linux-based VST instrument that I can't get to make sound through Carla. I got the link from KVR, to this page here: http://www.anticore.org/jucetice/?page_id=8...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
Hi AutoStatic, thanks for the tips. I set up Jack just the way you have yours, and I called it MobilePre, too. 48000Hz, 3 periods, 128 frames/period. --The only thing I can't do is change the interface to MobilePre. It's greyed out and can't be changed. As I play, I'm getting static, and although th...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
Well, it seems to solve the problem of the "static" I was getting with my onboard audio card. But I'd be happy to use the MobilePre if it's MUCH better. I don't think it's MUCH better. The difference is probably smaller than say the difference between the MobilePre and an RME device. I've...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
leave input and output field "default" and choose your interface in the device field So if I select default for in and out, I should select the interface in the connections box? I'm not clear on your suggestion here. as to the UCA222, this is not realy a good interface. I doubt it's bette...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
I'm back to KXStudio again, this time using the UCA222 audio card included with the Midi Controller. Works great! The only thing is, when I log in, I get a crash message for Cadence. Strange, because I haven't even opened it. (I usually just go to QJackCtl and work from there.) Should I make changes...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
Hi guys! Thank you so much for your constant patience. Here's the latest: After a series of reboots, it actually did allow me to enter the system. But Jack and Alsa were having some problems: Alsa wasn't recognized either. So, I saved all my files unto an external HDD, and re-installed Ubuntu Studio...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
Ya know, I never thought it would actually be possible to use the Motif as output. However, as it stands, I now have a BIG problem: I bought a new audio card: called M-Audio MobilePre. Seems it's been around a while, although the manual/drivers in the box are only for Windows and Mac. (figures..) So...

Re: Time for a new audio card??
restart jack or, increase latency I got this from time to time, too and I've seen others report this It's not the card, this only happens with vsts regarding loopback. what's your distro? Here on Arch this module only gets loaded when editing rc.conf but, It wont harm your system anyways I'm using ...

Time for a new audio card?? (SOLVED)
Hi everyone, I am getting some unwanted distortion while playing with some VSTi's. I checked my speakers, but they seem to be fine. I tried using the headphone jack instead of the line-out jack, but no change. So I'm wondering: is the distortion due to a cheap sound card? (I'm using my built-in one)...

Audio/video driver updates (SOLVED)
Hi everyone, a real "beginner" question: How do I know if my audio and video drivers are up-to-date? Both audio and video cards on my PC are the default ones. I've checked in the past to see if there were drivers but I usually end up on sites that provide drivers for Windows. :( Or does KX...
