StudioDave: click the icon with a wrench then 'appearance' and behaviour tab. You can set the launcher to autohide and sensitivity level at which the launcher is shown when you push mouse cursor to the left.

Re: xruns on 44100
Check samplerate for your card with alsamixer. It is possible that it is set to 48000. This causes xruns when 44100 is set in jack because all of the audio needs to be resampled on the fly.

Re: Native Instruments Komplete and WINE
-- edit --
I don't know why but it just worked. I was tweaking some things but even if I go back to same settings as before it just work. Very strange but I can't say I'm not happy

Re: Native Instruments Komplete and WINE
Hello again, I made some break from this topic and now I am back. Reaktor is working fine, it is very responsive, the interface looks good etc. No difference than in Windows. Except... I can't use MIDI. In Windows my MIDI controller works out of the box. In Patchage, I see that there is no MIDI in/o...

Re: New Linux Open Orchestra!
Well, I'm not sure if you have to load a sample with 24 bit and 96 kHz to process it in such quality. Maybe software converts lower quality to higher for that purpose, maybe not, I don't know at this point. I shared what I knew. Maybe after some time passes I will have answer. For now, maybe someone...

"Step 1 - Enable the repositories" ...okay, i get that. Should I unable them later on? "Step 2 - Update the system" What kind of "minor questions" may appear? I am not sure if i will know the right answer... "Step 3 - Install the KXStudio Desktop" What do i n...

Re: Muse Receptor runs on Linux!
I wonder if the proprietary rights are meant to last "forever," or if at some point it will be released to the linux community. Proprietary rights last forever in this case because Muse will probably never release the enhancements they made to the OS, Wine or any application involved in t...

Re: New Linux Open Orchestra!
Don't you want studio-quality sound out of orchestrated instruments? 44.1 kHz/16-bit is CD quality, right? Please reread my post. You gain nothing from recording samples in 24 bit and 96 kHz. You can't hear the frequencies above 20 kHz (most adults can't hear above 16 kHz which is natural) and most...

Yes, you can use standard Ubuntu and install additional software. Just use KXStudio repository which is designed for this case.

Re: New Linux Open Orchestra!
I'd laugh at compression artifacts and MP3. C'mon! Why not a 24-bit/96 kHz Linux Open Orchestra? 24 bit and 96 kHz make sense when it comes to audio processing. This is because of dsp algorythms precision (bit depth to minimise the rounding error and high sampling rate because buffer size is in sam...
