Linux Tariffs
This morning, Trump administration officials announced significant new tariffs upon imported Linux distributions. The decision came after the president's meeting with Apple and Microsoft executives who complained that the dumping of imported linux distros was hurting the domestic operating system ma...

Re: Recording the SPDIF input of M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI card in Audacity, how?
Using QJackCtl, set the number of inputs and outputs to 10. Channels 1 and 2 are the main Left/Right analog inputs/outputs. Channels 9 and 10 are the SPDIF.

Re: Qtractor for live setup
Backupband can output MIDI to other apps Yeah, but it's more efficient to load all those synths/samplers as plugins in Carla (or QTractor here) than to chain them together via QJackCtl and BackupBand. BackupBand is meant to be akin to using something like a Yamaha Tyros, where it's a tightly integr...

Re: Qtractor for live setup
Have you tried backupband? It has a sound module built into it. If you add the Instruments.zip pack, you've got a useful set of gig patches including acoustic and electric pianos, strings, brass, organ, sax, trumpet, clavinet, bass guitars, electric/acoustic guitars, etc. And since bb uses standard ...

Re: Simple guitar practice: what software to use?
Yeah, check out BackupBand at https://sourceforge.net/projects/backupband/files since it was designed to do the specific task you're seeking. This is a program created for the purpose of providing live accompaniment, either for a live gig, or for practise. Some people will recommend software that is...

Re: BackupBand
Not yet. Right now i'm doing a major update to the midi input, adding more controlable features. For example, in addition to split keyboard, you can also do dual layer. So you can have a bass patch on the lower half of your keyboard, and on the upper half a piano layered with strings. Also, if you h...
