Re: USB-Audio regressions on 3.8 kernel - fixed?

I've had good USB results with the 3.8.0-28.20 kernel. I think this was the one that fixed my USB problems. I've had about three solid days of musicmaking with this 3.8.0-28.20 kernel with no xruns or other problems other than 55 that were generated trying to unload an ancient digital camera via com...

Re: Ukulele + GNU/Linux

... Incidentally: is it an acoustic or an electric uke you're using? I'm curious, since I recently tried getting Audacity waveform (never got the hang of LMMS and currently trying to get my head around Ardour) from my electric uke. There was hardly any, to my surprise, although there isn't much mor...

Re: newbie introduction

Welcome. Too bad about having to use a proprietary OS for some things. Many hope the situation gets bettter soon. Nice to hear from a jazz banjo man (even if it is a tenor guitar). There is a place reserved for new member intros: http://www.linuxmusicians.com/viewforum.php?f=12 Most expect to see an...

Re: KXStudio recent updates - any problems?

I just did another full update on my main machine. No problems noticed. One thing I did notice is that I now seem to be able to run the 3.8 kernel without problems. Maybe the USB regression issue is solved? I didn't notice a new kernel in the last batch of updates... Good excuse to make music today...

Re: PCI Slots In New AMD A88X-based Motherboards

I thought about height, too. What about extension cables? How far can signals be sent from the PCI extended bus? And what about a stand alongside enclosure? Some might choose to just allow the card to lie on its side without an enclosure. Computers sometimes seen to become less functional as time pr...

Re: PCI Slots In New AMD A88X-based Motherboards

I wondered the same. I looked at Newegg for PCI slots on all AMD motherboards, and for the top 3 most numerous socket types. *********** Of a grand total of 144 Motherboards for AMD processors, 131 of 144 (90.9%) offered at least one PCI slot 69 of 144 (44.4%) offered 1 PCI slot 54 of 144 (37.5%) of...

Re: The Bad Fucoz!

Yep. Nice. Sounds like a fun band to play in. Too bad you guys aren't within 100 miles of me and in need of a bass player. Wait. Maybe that's a good thing! :) Please play "these boots are made for Fucoz" Make sure the bassist uses a slide. Shot glass works just fine, heavy enough to do the...

Re: KXStudio recent updates - any problems?

I just ran the updates some minutes ago. No issues so far.

falkTX, do you know if the kernel regression issue dealing with USB has been fixed? I tried the last earlier 3.8 kernel last night and still had issues with starting jack at login.

thanks.

Re: JACK settings under Lubuntu 13.04

I had some similar difficulty with xruns. Initially I found that Pulseaudio was a major contributer to system unstability. I tried to set it up to work well, but finaly gave up on it and found a way to kill it and make it stay dead. But I still experienced xruns. One thing I discovered is that CPU s...

Re: Problem installing KXStudio

If there is a discussion on linuxmusicians concerning UEFI issues, I think it would be appropriate to ask that a link be posted in this thread. If there is not already a dedicated thread, maybe a compilation of links to posts in the forum discussing the issue. I need to search now... Search found 20...
