Re: ATMEGA328P send MIDI via USB

Hi Kendall, I used to do a lot of stuff with micros. AVR is a favorite. Here would be my suggestions. Stick with the pre-made teensy-2.0++ or something like it - I believe the AVR you mention does not have a USB peripheral, while the one on teensy2.0++ does. And while there are software to bit-bang ...

Re: Beatles parody

Wow, I'm impressed @JeffG, you play a mean beatles guitar. I watched 5 minutes of Eric Idles Rutles. Funny stuff. I will watch the remainder later. I like Eric's hair! And you are on soundcloud now, will wonders never cease? I guess I've put that off for too long. I must join soon. And post my own b...

Re: A classical quiz

I got Bach and Gershwin. I thought for sure I'd get Mozart, ugh.
Maybe I'd do better with Linux trivia.

Re: Buying a guitar - how to record it?

@sysrqer, do you have any desire to DIY with soldering iron? @folderol mentions 'tiny D.I.Y. FET buffer amps'. And you can either buy these things pre-made, or if you like DIY they are do-able to build one from scratch. While generally I think it is best to just buy this sort of thing(like that usb ...

Re: for a friend and his hobby

Yes I did like the solo guitar and lead guitar at the end. Simple, but effective, nice tone. Liked the warble from the floyd rose tremolo bridge that I suspect you have. Did you use computer for guitar fuzz effects or did you use external amp/gadgets? Don't worry too much about technical aspects. Th...

Good stuff. Two thumbs up from me. You have some good drones, make sure you keep them happy.
What exactly is a drone in this musical context?

Re: for a friend and his hobby

I thought it was great, in a rock and roll 'I want to be sedated' sort of way.
Maybe the drummer sounded a bit too robotic, but that's probably because he was. :D
A verse without the singing in the middle perhaps? More lead guitar maybe

Re: Buying a guitar - how to record it?

Just tried wiring an electric guitar straight to a laptop. I though it would work ok, but it didn't, not enough volume. My newer laptop has a combined 1/8th inch jack that is labeled both headphone and mic. I didn't use that, I suppose it requires a three tip jack that I don't have. So I tried an ol...

Tab/Lyrics on a tablet anyone?

I have a poor memory for lyrics, I know there are some pretty spiffy tab/lyric programs on android. I tried one once, but this was on a small cheap tablet that I didn't play with long. Any recommendations? Experiences? Any comparable programs for the desktop? Or is android, buy an app, the way to go?

Re: Rpi3 hydrogen

That's neat. Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of a synth/music linux appliance. I'd like to get something like that setup using either a laptop, tablet or maybe a pi3 is a good solution. Was it much work to setup? Did you have to compile stuff? Are you using whatever it has for stock audio hardwa...

Re: Hello from Kiev!

Hi Peter, welcome! Tried out your eko, it compiled and ran on my deb testing just fine. Listened to a few of your tunes off jamendo with it. Good stuff. Tried out your tea editor, that was in the repo, so just an apt-get away. Funny how the user interfaces have some commonality ;) Keep hackin and ro...

Re: drum replacement

I got some odd errors on ./configure, but it seemed to produce the needed Makefile.
running make, it errors out on strtol() func in 2 places.
I added:
#include <stdlib.h>
on 3rd line in src/lib/convertlib.h,
then it compiled and ran.
I'm on debian testing.
