Re: Hi from Malaga

Welcome inigo! It might be a good idea to setup one of those machines with a audio focues distrobution. 64 Studio is based on Ubuntu(Ubuntu is based on Debian) and AVLinux is based on Debian. That would pre-install a lot of really good audio applications and be configured to handle audio really well...

Re: Herrrowww >:]

What issues are you having with Audacity? If I recall correctly, version 1.2ish had problems with pulseaudio if present. I do not know what Linux Mint's sound setup is like, but It may be something to look into. There are some good videos on getting started with Ardour at the link below. Audacity is...

Hey,
Great to have you on board Mark!

What kind of musical ventures are you doing on your Linux Mint system?

Re: Mobile audio interface advice

I also have a laptop with Intel onboard sound, which works fine for some stuff like you said. I have two USB audio interfaces, a Edirol UA-4fx and M-Audio Ozone, which I use to record mono or stereo guitar/keys/vocals. I have never had a problem with latency, even when monitoring the mix after passi...

Playing with Rakkarack turned into a song idea

I was messing with rakkaracks abuntant effects and came across and cool bass line, which led to a metal riff and decided to throw some drums in for a nice song demo. I used Rakkarack, Hydrogen, Ardour and a little bit of Aeolus. It still needs some work, but I think it has some potential. http://cho...

Re: Ubuntu Studio Vs. 64 Studio

I share a home folder for 64 Studio 2.1 and Ubuntu 9.04 and it works okay. The first time I went from one to the other, all my panels were messed up, but once I set them up again, they were okay. Depending on how many apps you use on both distros of different versions, it may or may not be a good id...

Re: Ubuntu Studio Vs. 64 Studio

I personally went through this about a year and a half ago. I had Ubuntu Studio on my laptops which worked alright. But I seemed to spend more time chasing xruns than making music. I put my old laptop on 64 Studio 2.1 that I use for live performance and it hasn't crashed ever. I don't record with th...

Re: Impulse convolver/guitarix

I see. I downloaded the source for 2.14, but I don't meet the dependencies. I would have to update libc6 and some others I think.

Anyone done this update on 64 Studio 3.0 (beta3) or Ubuntu Hardy?

Re: recommendation for tuning software?

My upright piano hasn't been professionally tune in about 5 years. I am looking to try tuning it myself if possible to save money and learn more about the inside of the great instrument. I have a laptop I can hook a mic to and use fmit. Anyone know a good starter guide or some tips for me before I s...
