Re: XRUNS ... but why?

Another observation, I think you said that dsp load peaks at about 85% ? If so, maybe you are just exceeding what is possible in ardour with the midi data and plugins you have chosen. Dsp load is an average reported by jack, which means that peaks could be higher.. IIRC one ought to not exceed 80-90...

Re: XRUNS ... but why?

A follow up question :) When the xruns happen, is the midi inside of ardour only, or does it include a physical midi keyboard, other jack clients, etc? Edit: What I'm getting at is, are the xruns caused by ardour or a plugin it hosts, or some external factor related to JACK? I'm not sure what module...

Re: XRUNS ... but why?

@lilith Yes I think you have described and configured everything the right way. One observation, the configuration for "nice" in limits.conf strictly isn't needed, but it also won't hurt. Just some old Internet lore that gets propagated. Also maybe best to set the limit of rtprio to 98, as...

Re: AV Linux takes very long to boot

Thank you for the info, I'm not going to try it now, but I will in the future (I'm back to Ubuntu Studio, with everything configured, and of course to discover that despite all my prep efforts I've lost some valuable stuff... it seems an unavoidable risk you get with every reinstall)... I keep my h...

Then the RT kernel is doing it's job well.

Ah indeed, strange don't think I've ever seen that before. Good to keep in mind for the future.

Thanks!

You can find the latest build by following this link:

This gives me "HTTP Error 404", the reason I asked :)

Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018

Running from RAM would minimize any bottle necks related to disk i/o. I don't think it could in any way lower usable audio latency though. Please let us know if you test! :)

Probably useful to have a usb stick that loads the OS/DAW into RAM for using on any computer you come across.

Re: 16 sample buffer with Arch Linux

Just to be clear : when you wrote 'NVIDIA' you're referring to the nvidia proprietary drivers? Yes, if you don't patch the rt kernel specifically the nvidia proprietary drivers will hang, it's been like that for many years. NVIDIA's solution is to refuse building kernel modules when it detects a rt...

You're welcome.

It's an easy thing to overlook, especially since you might only have to do it once on a new install.

Run "dmesg -H" in a terminal to see if it offers any leads.

Re: Soundcraft Signature 12mtk with Reaper in Linux?

If the device works in linux, you could also just use reaper's alsa support, no need for jack unless you want to route midi and audio around to other jack clients.

RME Digiface would also do it.
