I mean old school MIDI connectors like these :
You would need them on your audio interface along with a MIDI lead.

Re: Keyboard is recognised but doesn't work
Do you have 5 pin MIDI inputs? They would work in the meantime until you figure this out. I would expect your keyboard to just work over USB.

Re: Keyboard is recognised but doesn't work
The CP33 driver you refer to -- a Windows driver? I haven't found Linux needs drivers for MIDI devices. Sometimes firmware is required. If JACK isn't running you could use aseqdump from the command line to see if MIDI is getting in. Start with aseqdump -l to find the port: $ aseqdump -l Port Client ...

With WINE? The problem is then exposing MIDI in WINE. So this topic should be in 'Running Non-Linux Software'. Or start a new topic -- WINE MIDI in that forum.davis wrote:I use Ableton:

Re: Midi Drum Patterns
I'm not sure where the idea that a performance can be copyrighted is coming from. I took a course on the music business and it taught that there are two kinds of rights -- performing rights and mechanical rights. Performing rights go to the writer of the song and what can be copyrighted here is melo...

Re: Presonus 1818VSL SMUX mode
Glad you got it working. If you're happy using JACK all is good. It will be possible to use ALSA and that will involve creating and editing .asoundrc which honestly I find a bit of a nightmare. The solution will be a simple couple of lines. Unfortunately due to what I consider to be the obscure synt...

Re: Presonus 1818VSL SMUX mode
I just noticed that was your first post. Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear that didn't work. From my reading of the Mac instructions I got the impression it's 14 input mode. Are you using JACK? JACK defaults to the maximum number of inputs. Would starting JACK with 14 inputs and outputs work?

Re: Presonus 1818VSL SMUX mode
I had a look at the link you posted. On a Mac the 1818 can be controlled with software built into the OS. On Linux there is alsamixer which may or may not offer the controls you need. Type alsamixer into a terminal, select the 1818 with F6 and see what controls there are.

Re: New MusE logo
I was in a band that had some graphic design work done and there was a difference between the logotype and the logo (or logomark). If we take Nike -- the swoosh is the logo and the combination of the word 'Nike' and the swoosh is the logotype. In this scenario we've got ideas for the logotype. For a...

Re: The Wind and the Lake (classical / symphonic poem)
I naively assumed MuseScore would automatically take care of things like this, but it's actually unreasonable to assume it's up to the tool to let you write things properly: otherwise it would be impossible to write syncopated rhythms, for instance, as the tool would "fix" them for you. O...

Re: The Wind and the Lake (classical / symphonic poem)
After searching a bit, I think I know what may be wrong: the notation isn't respecting where the beats are, or isn't making it clear enough. I'll have to do a bit of homework to figure out the proper way to notate this part, though, and possibly apply the same logic to other parts of the score that...

Re: The Wind and the Lake (classical / symphonic poem)
I was intrigued to find the "wrong rhythms". In the days of handwritten scores it was possible to have truly wrong rhythms in that the rhythmic values didn't add up to a bar. MuseScore doesn't let you do that. I found these rhythms that aren't notated correctly : https://i.ibb.co/Zz0MVzR/w...

Re: Updated list of Linux compatible audio interfaces
ESI MAYA44 USB/USB+ Quite unusual, I thought, for a manufacturer to officially recognise Linux support, even though they don't offer troubleshooting advice. Can I use MAYA44 USB/USB+ under Linux? Yes. MAYA44 USB and MAYA44 USB+ are supported by the current version of the ALSA driver package via the...
