Re: windows refugee from NYC

Here is how I create and mix in Linux, since a bit more than a year now. Machine: Linux Mint 17 (will be upgraded soon), i5-3570 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 16 GB RAM. Audio interface: M-Audio 1010LT. Hardware processing: ART MPA2 tube preamp, ART VLA2 tube compressor, Lexicon MX200. Creation, sketching, arrange...

Addtional to the sound patches themselves from which to learn, there is also the excellent Dan Worrall four-part ACE tutorial (1 hour total). Here is the fourth part:

Re: individual plugins vs bus plugins

Same echo as Norlick here. In general, toms would belong together and there would not be a need to make one stand out more than the others in the way you describe the context. They work as a group, unless there's some special effect/attention on 1 or 2 toms as some emphasis or punch. Working as a gr...

Re: Interlude 1

That was a shakuhachi flute sample. The wind noise and the wood feel is typical of those.

Re: TAL Bassline

Voxengo work, waves do (although I have only tested a fairly old bundle). Don't know what the other two are but it's rare to come across any that don't work these days. Allright, sounds good. I would like to start by trying out some free Voxengo plugins. like maybe the Overtone EQ, OldSkoolVerb, Bo...

ZynJam !

.. or 'Zyn Gladiator'. Of some sort. Just (re-) discovered the Zynaddsubfx synth recently, in its new 'fusion' incarnation that enables use via VST in Bitwig. Browsing the available sounds, this improvisation came to be, which is, synth-wise, 100% Zynaddsubfx. The new interface invites sound explori...

Does that include the most popular, like the Voxengo (free) plugins ? Waves ? Fab Four ? UA emulations ? Or is it limited to lesser known plugins ?

Interlude 1

Hello, I was set to start to learn Bitwig's layered edition. So I needed a few notes, a few chords. Anything would do, this was only to learn editing. What about these simple chords... Well, will get back to learning layered edition later... To describe the resulting track: nicely flowing synth-base...

Waverazor

Waverazor will be available in its first incarnation next week. Waverazor is a synth made by Taiho Yamada (Alesis Andromeda A6, M-Audio Venom) and his newly-founded company Media Overkill (MOK). There will be no editor (700+ params in a single oscillator) in the first release. People who get it at t...

Re: Linux musicians favicon

Wow. Never thought that a 'favicon' would be so important. More than assuring level balancing between tunes ? (Mind you, perhaps there's no such thing as level balancing in streaming, I do not know. Maybe listeners are used to reach for their volume level. Or maybe this is automatically done by stre...

Re: test-jam105

Thanks. That was a quick mix since it was a test. The bass part was not sequenced nor looped. It was played in real time from start to finish, so there ought to be mistakes. I am not sure about the Biotek synth though. I'm not sure about its sound stability. But it's an interesting synth. It works m...

test-jam105

Hello, This is a somewhat relaxed piece that contrasts a laided back rhythm with a busy bass over which an acoustic guitar weaves some chords. A piano (slightly doubled by a synth) adds a melody while an analog sounding synth provides a solo. This is a test insofar the rhythm is solely made using a ...
