Re: Soda P - Icon of Your Time (demo, unmastered)
I like the song, very punky. I don't think you should polish the mix too much, this song needs this raw feeling. BTW: Very good guitar sound!

Jan Knopfler? I wish!
Just found a relatively old recording of mine I made in the summer. I remember listening to Dire Straits and I felt like I could do something with a little bit of electric guitar fingerpicking. I know it doesn't do a Dire Straits homage any justice, but I like it anyway, even if it was just a bit fo...

Maybe I'll get the NanoKontrol too. Do you need a software to configure it?AutoStatic wrote:Got one too. Also a nanokontrol. Both work well. You could try nano-basket, a little Python script to configure the device.

Re: Korg Nanopad
the Nanopad was recognized right away and the software to assign the pads works perfectly with wine. So how does it work? Like a regular USB MIDI device? Does it work without wine? What kind of messages does it send? Might be nice to mention it at http://alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Vendo...

Korg Nanopad
I recently saw a Korg Nanopad and decided to buy one. I didn't know if it would work in Linux, but the Nanopad was recognized right away and the software to assign the pads works perfectly with wine, even if the software itself is not the most intuitive. The Akai offer was also tempting, but I figur...

Re: Video made with Kino
Your voice is awesome! Much like Peter Gabriel. And the music sounds like you are heavily influenced by him. Can I get an MP3?

Re: 70s Cop Show or 70s Porn?
Is there a good Hammond B3 emulation for Linux? I know there is one in bristol but it is making clicks and crashing all te time. There is one called Beatrix http://people.dsv.su.se/~fk/beatrix_download.html but it has no Jack-support and last version from 2004! I don't know, I used a soundfont. Don...

Re: Name that guitar!
As hosts of Headbangers Ball I remember Christiane Backer (slight but irritating German accent) and Vanessa Warwick. Ray Cokes of course is unforgettable! As soon as they got more german hosts (I think there were some others besides Kristiane Bakker) and opened a completely german channel, I lost i...

Re: Name that guitar!
Congratulations Jan! The names Nuno Bettencourt and Extreme bring back memories of the early 90's to me when I was quite a fan of hard rock and metal. I remember Nuno as an outstanding guitarist and seeing him in interviews on MTV (where I used to watch 'Headbangers Ball' back in those days :) ) By...

Re: Name that guitar!
I attended one of his guitar clinics here in Houston about 20 years ago when he was with Extreme. He was very entertaining. I think I remember him saying the head stock was specially designed so that he could twirl it on his finger. Bugger, I didn't ask him about the headstock. Would have been nice...

Re: Name that guitar!
Wow, seems like a real hefty experience! You must've felt like a kid in a toystore :) Yes, i did -- although Nuno has less equipment than most amateurs. He has two of his amp stacks and a little floorboard with an Octaver, a Tuner and a Boss GT-8. He likes to keep it very simple. Oh, and he uses a ...

Re: Name that guitar!
That ís Nuno Bettencourt's guitar, he has a Washburn endorsement. How was the interview Jan? 10 points for you, Jeremy! Nuno was the nicest guy! The different management contacts were very confusing and confused, so after a lengthy back and forth Nuno himself came to take me into the Festhalle. We ...
