Re: Ardour/Hydrogen - no sound output
Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure what the fart sounds are - however I have found why I had no sound. In the Envy24 control, for some inexplicable reason (I don't think I would have changed this, although I suppose I must have), the first two output channels were set to SPDIF - which I don't us...

Re: Ardour/Hydrogen - no sound output
Odd. Without Jack running, I can start Audacity and press 'Play' and the speakers do a little 'fart' sound.
If I then run Jack, and do the same, the 'fart' sound doesn't happen.

Re: Ardour/Hydrogen - no sound output
I'm not sure. I will have another look when I get home, although I have to start Jack manually (I have set it this way), and I don't recall getting any output from Audacity (or anything else for that matter) without Jack running (even when it was working). I have looked in alsamixer and all the volu...

Ardour/Hydrogen - no sound output
Hi all, I haven't recorded for a while (about a month), and I turned on my DAW machine yesterday as I had a few ideas floating around in my head (which have since gone!), started up Hydrogen and Ardour which all started ok (Jack must have been running), the EQ goes up and down when I click a drum or...

New FOSS project...
I'm just about to start (embark might be a better word) a new project using only open source software and hardware. The project is a short film celebrating my local area - we have a lot of local history, and despite living here all my life, I really quite like the place ;-) The idea is to take timel...

Roland S-760 + Bristol.
Hi all, I'm just about to start an 80's cover band - I'm just waiting on a bass player. The problem I have is, although I have a Yamaha DX7, I don't have all the sounds I need for gigging live and I obviously don't want to be buying a Juno6, a MonoPoly, a Jupiter etc.... (although it would be nice)....

Re: Line 6 Pod XT vs Pod 2.0
Hi, thanks for that - that makes sense!
I would love the X3 but I'm not sure my budget will stretch to one of those sadly!
I've seen a few XTs on ebay, so I'm hoping to aquire one of my own soon!
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated!
PS. Happy new year!

Line 6 Pod XT vs Pod 2.0
Hi all, A colleague at work has lent me his Line 6 Pod XT for a while...and, well....I NEEED one of these things now that I've finally got to play with one. I've been looking on ebay and the Pod 2 seems to be cheaper, but appears to be the exact same thing. Does anyone know the difference between th...

Re: M-audio 66 error
I'll say!
I thought I'd post it up here in case anyone else has a similar problem.
I can't wait to get my guitar back - I miss Ardour!
(I hear a rumour that v.3 is coming out soon)

Re: M-audio 66 error
Got it! I had to add options snd-ice1712 model=delta66 (or delta1010LT - it doesn't seem to matter) in the # Prevent abnormal drivers from grabbing index 0 section of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf Had to fiddle around a bit with Jack after that (I can't remember exactly what I did, but it was in th...

Re: M-audio 66 error
No, I don't have it installed and it's not in the alsa-tools package any more.
I did, however, just reinstall from scratch (I had a few video errors too and a few other things, I figured I'd give it a try), but the card is still not there.

Re: M-audio 66 error
Dual boot Windows? Hare dare you!? ;-) No, it's a clean full install of UbuntuStudio 9.10 64 bit. I checked that the card and cable were all in properly, and they were. I don't think it's hardware, as I installed 9.10 on a new HDD meaning that I can simply plug the old HDD in and boot into 8.04 - wh...

Re: M-audio 66 error
Hi, sorry to dredge this post up again. My 8.04(rt) install started getting sluggish, and things started to crash quite regularly, so I thought I'd give UbuntuStudio 9.10 a go. My God, it looks nice ;-) It's much, much more responsive than 8.04 was, however, I have the same problem with the sound ca...

Re: Stereo mic only captures in mono
What are you capturing into? Ardour?
Which sound card do you have? Is it an Envy card of any kind (M-Audio?)
