Re: [ANN] MusE 3.0.0 released

The reason I chose Ubuntu instead of Arch is the lowlatency kernel that works with nVidia proprietary drivers. The low latency kernel I could find for Arch is the Liquorix kernel and that takes too long for me to compile, not to mention having to uninstall the nvidia-lqx/nvidia-utils packages to co...

Re: PulseAudio died badly and now it doesn't seem to work

Have you checked if anything is muted in alsamixer? It's odd that pulseaudio doesn't report any issues when it starts - that was when Jack and jackdbus was not running? I suspect that pulseaudio is working ok but Jack is running in some form and blocking the sound. You could reset cadence but I'm no...

Re: Overtone DSP?

So what happened to the EQ4000, it's not on the website? Also noticed the DYN4000 isn't available any more either. Did SSL try some legal action or something?

I believe they all work, the mpd32 definitely does. I think the newer controllers are better though if you can afford them.

Renoise, not reason. You should definitely include non free software, not everyone cares and some are very much against it.

Open a terminal and run 'alsamixer'.
You should see the headphone channel, make sure it's not muted and is turned up.

Re: Electronic Percussion samples

Unfa has done a series on YouTube for making all kinds of electronic percussion sounds with zynaddsubfx, most are quite easy really. There is a subreddit at reddit.com/r/drumkits they have good kits for free, a some decent packs at /r/edmproduction.

Re: AV Linux 2018... what kernel do ya want for default??

thetotalchaos for nvidia users its not a case of preferring to use one or the other, nouveau has serious problems when it comes to realtime audio - segfaults, lockups and kernel flooding error messages. I don't know if all users experience this but I certainly did and it's not good losing work rando...

Re: New headphones

Yes Jack Winter, they are. They are the only open back headphones I've tried so I don't know if it is just those in particular or open backed in general that are not very powerful in the bass.

Re: JACK2 1.9.12 release and future plans

Nice one falktx, your plan sounds very sensible.

I hope one day the version numbering can be addressed, from a layman's point of view it's always been puzzling why jack 1 and 2 both are 1.x.

Re: New headphones

This is very true ufug, familiarity is key as well as referencing. That is one thing that makes me think of a simple replacement, I know what I have and how it sounds, and I know that getting something else is going to introduce a whole new level of getting know the holes and boosts again. I feel li...

Re: New headphones

Basically, if it sounds good on all three pair, I'm in great shape! Yes, I try to cross reference as much as I can, the earbuds usually tell me quite a lot. I'm hoping to be able to get some monitors again at some point but for now it has to be just headphones. What do you look for in the analyser?...
