Re: Why people don't like Unity and Ubuntu?
1) ubuntu ≠ unity. people LOVE ubuntu, because it works, and this often happens out of the box. 2) people don't like unity because it sucks. personally i dislike 3 things about unity — a) actually it's not resource-friendly, b) it installs tons of dependencies, and c) the way it parodies classic Mac...

Re: Ideal DE for Music Tracking & Mixing
I know this is a little old but have you tried Enlightenment 0.20.9. Memory footprint is small and speed is good. It has really good window management and developers have picked up the pace on bugfixes and releases. It does have a tiling option which I never tried if that's your preference. +1 for ...

Re: Looking for new headphones
using Beyerdynamics DT 770 (250 ohm version) with NI Komplete Audio 6.
the best workhorse i ever had.
• very detailed sound
• not distressing (semi-open design rocks)
• really durable. they survived all my openair adventures, weather conditions, etc.

[SOLVED] Carla with ALSA backend — no sound from plugins
i have a machine, where i don't want to have a full-blown jack-based setup for several reasons (well, that's a workstation at my job, where i occasionally have some free time). i installed Carla from KXStudio repos. as i can figure out from Carla settings, it should be capable of running with ALSA d...

Re: [SOLVED] jalv and MIDI control question
so, i'm marking thread as [SOLVED]. ingen actually does what i've expected, and even more (it is capable of sorting the whole mess of my TAL Noize Mak3r presets, which Carla failed to sort, and MIDI control for Calf suite works as expected, unlike Carla). i absolutely love it. ssj71 , you made my wh...

Re: jalv and MIDI control question
wow. thank you for pointing to ingen. i've never played with it before. as far as i can see from the description on official page: Ingen is built around LV2 technology and a strict separation of engine from user interface. The engine is controlled exclusively through a protocol, and can execute as a...

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)
2) is it possible to package HarmonySEQ? well, i know that it appears to be abandoned, but it still has quite a lot of unique features. Yes, but please do a feature request here so I don't forget.. https://github.com/KXStudio/Repository/issues done. regarding non-sequencer: is it possible to have b...

Re: Package requests here! (New and updates)
is there any good reason that non-sequencer package in KXStudio repos is old and actually outdated at the moment? are there any major problems with the actual (git) version? Yes, there are some major drawing/repaint issues and a few crashes. well, it's my primary sequencer for rehearsal / live use,...

1) The non-sequencer app is still not using the git/dev version as it's not really usable yet. is there any good reason that non-sequencer package in KXStudio repos is old and actually outdated at the moment? are there any major problems with the actual (git) version? 2) is it possible to package H...

for those who will read this thread looking for advice: consider Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 as a very good option in this category.
