Re: Wrestling with JACK - JACK is winning

Re: Wrestling with JACK - JACK is winning

Thank you for the help. I will follow those instructions when I get back to my lubuntu machine on Monday. Is it ok if I ask some questions? I'd really to understand how and why these things work. 1) Ok, what exactly is pulseaudio? My concept is that pulseaudio and alsa are audio daemons. I keep hear...

Wrestling with JACK - JACK is winning

Hi, It is nice to see that this forum is still active. I was active here for a period in 2011, but life happened and I disappeared for a bit. But now I'm back, and I'm looking for some guidance dealing with JACK. For me, this program is an enigma. It seemingly has a will of its own, deciding when to...

Re: Linux Mint and Kxstudio - Settings

Sorry, but could you break it down a little bit more for me? I'm still green and intimidated by linux. Where and how do I find and open bashrc?

Re: Linux Mint and Kxstudio - Settings

Sorry to revisit a old post, but when I said "Kmix works!" what I should have said is, Kmix workED. After a reboot (I reboot my computer like once every full moon or something) Kmix ceased functioning. Alsamixer works though, but it's not as nice to look at as Kmix. Could someone help me m...

Auto Tune the News

Hi everyone. Ever seen Auto Tune the News? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dqTrUpmwPg Or the double rainbow song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MX0D4oZwCsA Well, it seems like great fun to auto tune things, but I don't know how! Does anyone here know how to achieve this effect? Just found another g...

Re: Linux Mint and Kxstudio - Settings

Um.... I make sure to keep my cinnamon closed whenever i'm using my computer. And my sage, tarragon, coriander and paprika. <pause for comedic effect> No, but seriously. Huh? Forum posting is way more fun after a few. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TzlVJNCP22c/TVbPCLOjeJI/AAAAAAAACUE/qXsL6CVpcuY/s1600/yo...

Re: Linux Mint and Kxstudio - Settings

Kmix works. THANK YOU Now, the volume controls and mute button on my keyboard do not seem to function at all. I noodled with Kmix config a little bit to try and get them to work with very limited success. The shortcut config screen recognizes the keystrokes, but the keys fail to perform their assign...

Linux Mint and Kxstudio - Settings

I guess I'll kick this off. I just installed Kxstudio into Linux Mint, and the most curious side effect has manifested. I am unable to control the master volume level for my speakers. My laptop has a little touch sensitive slider bar that typically controls volume settings and mute. This region of m...

Re: kxstudio and linux mint - what???

Well, as a new user, I thank you both for your assistance and opinions. However, I am stuck on step 5. I want to install the lowlatency kernel, but using

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install kxstudio-kernel-lowlatency
is returning E: Unable to locate package.

Re: kxstudio and linux mint - what???

Sounds interesting. Let me get this straight. KXStudios is a collection of repos, but it also is/has a desktop environment? I'd like to give it a go. How do I go about getting it all set up? I only ask because I'm still new to linux, and the KXStudios website is not very clear (at least to me) about...

kxstudio and linux mint - what???

I've been running linux mint for a few months now. My system is far from optimized, but since I broke ubuntu trying to optimize it, I've decided to wait for things to break before I fix them. I was reading the other thread about kxstudio, and I was all like "Huh? Wtf is this about?" So I w...

samplers?

Can someone recommend a good linux sampler? I use zynaddsubfx for synth purposes, but I'd love to use my midi keyboard to trigger sound samples.

Thanks all!
