jam35: Electronic Space Folk

This piece is built around an acoustic guitar improvisation laid over a drum riff. Various sounds swishes around amongst phaser cymbals while a lead ethnic synth of future tribal times tells a story of not so quiet times floating over a loose and dirty bass. Enjoy. https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/ja...

jam22 : electronica

This one is a "one synth" type of thing, although with some drums and percussion. It features a theme followed by two solos. A total improvisation done rather quickly although some time was spent mixing it, with several iterations evaluated over 2 weeks. The synth is u-he's Hive. I yet do ...

Re: jam25 feat. Wavedrum solo

Thanks ! The idea for these was to break off what is after all the same groove throughout the piece. And not to break in a planned manner, but to really make it loose - or at least trying to. I listened to it today and the 'power' of character of worn-out guitar strings is not to be underestimated !...

jam25 feat. Wavedrum solo

Here is yet another improvisation, this time featuring a Wavedrum solo. Dusted off the Wavedrum, plugged it, and played a few 'notes'. The improv is built around a percussion loop to which a synth adds basic chordal colors. Guitars, vibraphone, bass drum, snare, strange metallic sounds, find their w...

For fun: jam19 and jam16

Hello, 1) jam19 https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/jam19 Here's a light improv. Would have been only a recorded chord riff but then, why not not add some bass ? And then piano. A bit of snare and such would be OK. Just for fun. Instruments: Shiraki acoustic 6 string guitar Tenglewood acoustic bass guit...

After 40 years, a DVD - a band I like very much

Greetings, I'd like to drop a word about a band that I like lots, that was created more than 40 years ago, in 1969 and about which a film will be made this year. The band is Magma. Here is the trailer of the movie. The tone is set dramatically high although IMHO it is fitting considering their work....

Re: jam6

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. It has to be kept in mind that this is an improv. No effort was made whatsoever to adjust sounds past the very basic of getting it going. Your comments might very well bring this to another stage where it is more polished. And there lies the challenge: to k...

jam6

Hello, Here's a laid back piece. As its name suggests, it is an improvisation. So, almost no mixing, no adjustments. This is sketch stage. https://soundcloud.com/nominal6/jam6 It might be just me, but the piece surprises with some spontaneous feeling at a certain time during playback. Like something...

Re: Looking for new headphones

I got Sony's MDR-7506 a few months back, because it seems those are often seen in studio photos. They seem to be the working man's tool. And that might mean that they are also sturdy. They also come with a list of part numbers for every single little piece that makes them, which supposes that if bro...

Re: No OverToneDSP plugins for Linux anymore ?

Greetings, I just checked out the latest news from OverTone DSP (formerly linuxDSP) and noticed that there are no longer any listings for Linux versions of the plugins. In the news blurb regarding their latest product I read this announcement : NOTE: At present, the PTM-5A is available for Windows ...
