Midi-controll of Zynaddsubfx is unfortunately restricted to twelve parameters with fixed controller-numbers. http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/doc_3.html To lift restrictions of fixed controller-numbers, qmidiroute can be used to change them. Find qmidiroute here: http://alsamodular.sourceforge.net...

I guess scores are really powerful for writing music, but I do not (yet) read/write them fluently, so in my case I wouldn't call it easier using them. I dislike entering notes by mouse in seq24. Usually I record from MIDI Keyboard which is highly intuitive and gives quick results. The same with MIDI...

Thanks for the link, I immediately got stuck reading.
Introduction to music-theory can as well be found (and expanded) at cnx.org
http://cnx.org/content/col10363/latest/
which, besides, is a rather good project.

seq24 hasn't audio support is it? don't exactly know what you mean with audio support. I guess I can say it hasn't, because 'all' it does is sending and/or recieving virtual MIDI. There's no integrated support for e.g. plugins converting MIDI to Audio signals. Of course you can connect your favorit...

I sync it to ardour when i want to record tracks as audio. Dave Phillips has written a nice introduction, so i will shut up and give a link: http://www.lin...

Thanks for the link, I followed the instructions and edited /etc/apt/apt.conf to point to APT::Default-Release "testing";
This works fine until now, in case of unmet dependencies in the future I might just upgrade to unstable.

Interesting to hear that Debian sid/unstable runs rather stable. Using lenny/testing I had to fetch some packages from sid (e.g. ardour) which made me think about upgrading, but the term 'unstable' kept me from doing so. Since everything runs well now, especially the realtime-stuff, I will most like...
