Re: Jack : Sudden Bus Error when starting
Sorry to pollute your thread with my own issue, but I'll leave my error message here in case our issues are connected and it helps someone suggest a fix. Both of our issues involve jack-shm. I am glad that you post a related issue, as sometimes it helps to figure out the original. No problem thanks.

Re: Jack : Sudden Bus Error when starting
Not a secure solution, but I had to do it as the problem persists. Jack always have no permissions to /dev/shm after a reboot. So since I do not use systemD, my rc.local works, and I added chmod -R 777 /dev/shm to rc.local which temporarily solves the problem for user account starting jack, until I ...

Jack : Sudden Bus Error when starting
Anyone know how to resolve the sudden buss error. Nothing at all was done to this system, and all worked fine. After a reboot jack suddenly doesnt want to load and exits with a shm error, which when resolves exits with a buss error. jackd: no process found jackdmp 1.9.17 Copyright 2001-2005 Paul Dav...

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)
Sure I saw that but from the interface and how you select the routing as described in the manual it seems impossible to do.
It just cannot work with the interface as described.
Do you maybe have one to check ?

Re: Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)
As I mentioned in my original post, I did contact z-systems to find out if it will work exactly as I need, but get absolutely no answer from them, so it will be a blind buy if I do. That is why I asked the question here. Do you know for a fact that the z-sys z-8.8a will be able to combine all its sp...

Re: Motu midi express XT
Thank you for the detailed answer. I wanted to make sure there is absolutely no other option. I can write low level code well, but hate to do it. It seems I will have to pull out the ol' usb break out box and the logic analyzer and see if I can get a driver going. It is usually fairly simple but wor...

Does this interface exist ? 8 SPDIF in 1 ADAT out (containing 8 channels)
What I am looking for is sorely needed and apparently missing. Background: 1) I have several keyboards all with spdif outputs. 2) The normal audio jack socket outputs are a PITA in higheels. I can do what I want. I will always have some fizz on one and have to wiggle the jack to get rid of it. I alr...

Re: [Solved] M-Audio 8x8 does not show up in alsa
I sure will do as you helped me a hell of a lot. thanks I will likely end up writing my own application for the XT and I also have to write something for the Motu XT. The window$ crap os and archaic software for these devices is just too much of a headache to continue with. I have to port these asap...

Re: [Solved] M-Audio 8x8 does not show up in alsa
Thanks a lot. At least I get the interface so it works functionally. There was no deb package, just a binary, which did launch the interface. I will go look again if I missed the deb. Ok found the deb thanks. I will just have to go read up how it works as it has no preconfigured profiles for the 8 o...

Re: [Solved] M-Audio 8x8 does not show up in alsa
The plain script is KING and solves my problem as posted, but I am also interested in simplesysexxer as it has canned scripts for other Keyboards etc that is crucial to me. After a lot of searching, it seems the original sysexer is superceded by simplesysexxer. I compiled the source ( SimpleSysexxer...
