Re: Yoshimi

I do regularly test Yoshimi with MusE, along with others, so there shouldn't be a problem, but I don't have much experience with ubuntu, so can't comment on that install.

Re: Open Harp

For anyone interested, it's the instrument patch itself that really makes this stand out. It's Angel Harp, one of the default patches in my Yoshimi 'Companion' bank. The 'strike' is a fairly conventional AddSynth single voice with a quite rapid decay, but the tail is a SubSynth element which is basi...

Re: deeply confused with ALSA and JACK

Get the excellent QjackCtl program (available with all distros). This will enable you to link the Jack server to ALSAs interface.

Very good song, well produced - even though I can't understand a word, quality shows through.

Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...

Thanks for this, very reassuring, and I'll pass the info on.
Just to add, I don't use this myself. In fact I don't use any session manager, but there are a number of Yoshimi users that do, and if some of our small band use it, then there are likely to be a lot of others that do!

Why does drumgizmo (apparently) not support a GUI when running standalone?

Re: Yoshimi

I'm afraid I can't help you any further than that with PPAs. I've never used them and only know that they exist and that those who use them seems quite happy with them. Maybe someone else here is familiar with the process. P.S. The alternative is to grab the tarball and do a build yourself. That I c...

Re: Yoshimi

OK, from what you say I think it's best to find out what you actually have! When you run Yoshimi standalone, what version does it report? You can find it in the Yoshimi->About window. Also, open your file manager and step back through the directories to / then up to /usr then /lib (you'll find a lot...
