By the way, are the hihat splashes purposely so quiet?

That's good feedback, I'll see to increasing the gain on the hihat splash.

Oops, you have used the old idf: The instrument name under pitch 0 should be Kick Free instead of Kick Damp!

I'll fix it.

Shall I delete the idf from the OP?

Not yet please, I'm occupied for a bit. Hopefully I can get to this tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for your help @Impostor. You are awesome.
I will try to add it later.

I've been delayed by an emergency. Things may be slow for a bit :(
T.

Best of luck with your emergency. I'll put a few finishing touches on this project and then the IDF will be ready whenever you can get to it.

Re: Instrument definition for Tchackpoum Kit

I'm considering giving this kit a different name, since there's already the DrumGizmo Tchackpoum kit, which doesn't use all of the same samples, so there's a different sound to this one. The best thing I can think of so far is "Tchimera Kit" - A combination of the prefix "Tch" an...

Re: Instrument definition for Tchackpoum Kit

Nice! I'll add it to the project later today. I haven't used MusE much, is it common knowledge how to load the idf, or should I add some instructions in the readme.md file?

Re: What's everyone using to sequence drums?

Can't you create a single sfz with multiple audio channels? Well, that was way easier than I thought it would be. I updated the project with a full_kit.sfz file and instructions for setting up sfizz with multiple stereo output channels in Ardour: https://github.com/michaelwillis/tchimera-drum-kit?t...

Note that sfizz does not support the hichan / lowchan SFZ opcodes by design.

Oh, that's filtering on midi input channels. It doesn't affect audio output channels, which seem to be fully supported.

Hahaha! I submitted a tiny feature improvement years ago, so I'm on the list.

Wow, looks like you can. I think I'll update my project to implement a single sfz file, with instructions about how to route the channels.

Re: What's everyone using to sequence drums?

@dchurch24, if you weren't aware of this before, DrumGizmo is a great tool. It's not a sequencer, so you have to use the midi sequencing feature in your DAW, but some of the kits for DrumGizmo are great fun.

Re: What's everyone using to sequence drums?

If you want to use sfizz for drums, here's a kit that I put together from the tchackpoum samples: https://github.com/michaelwillis/tchimera-drum-kit In Ardour, make a midi track, you can call it "percussion". Then make five midi busses: kick, snare, toms, hihat, overhead. Route the track t...

Name for effect that tames loud highs?

I'm trying to develop an effect algorithm and I don't know what to call it. I want it to reduce high frequency noises that have an amplitude above a given threshold, but if high frequencies have an amplitude below that threshold, they should pass through the filter untouched (well, maybe untouched.....
