Re: Pipewire for pro audio

I've also made the transition: My production setup now runs Pop!_OS 22.04 with Pipewire (as by default). And wow, what a bumpy ride it's been so far. Most of all I really like Pipewire handling everything. It's efficient, logical, smotth. But to be honest, I mostly love how it takes care of Pulseaud...

What a great tip!
Thank you!
Do they have a lot of interfaces working on Linux?
My only experience with RME is some Dante interface (connected to a Mac), and I won't even try to get that one working in my Linux setup.

High end audio interface

Does anyone know of any higher qualiy, more high end audio interfaces that work flawlessly with Linux? It seems like the more expensive hardware tend to have more specialized drivers and not simply be class compliant. I'm checking the hardware lists, but they're very kind and don't differ too much o...

Re: Pipewire for pro audio

Pop!_OS announced yesterday that their next update (which has maybe already come, otherwise it'll be here really soon) includes Jack through Pipewire.

So for anyone who wants to try out how Jack works through Pipewire, this is now part of the default Pop!_OS 22.04.

Re: Pipewire for pro audio

The following is from the wiki link in my post above, and I followed the steps: ------------------------------------------------- "For JACK JACK clients can be configured to output via PipeWire instead of JACK. Install the pipewire-audio-client-libraries and libspa-0.2-jack packages, if not al...

Re: Pipewire for pro audio

I'm so happy for all these advices. Thank you so much! And this is the moment I seem to always reach when I try to get the hold of Pipewire: The messy moment! 'Cause according to this guide you need the package pipewire-jack-audio-connection-kit, which I cannot find in any repos so far. And accordin...

Re: Pipewire for pro audio

I'm trying to get things going on Pop!_OS 22.04 beta, as it's a clean distro running Pipewire by default. However, I'm not able to get Jack into Pipewire. They both work, but seperately. On a fresh install with no Jack, I installed yoshimi. Yoshimi then installed Jack (jackd+jackd2 etc) as a depende...

Re: Pipewire for pro audio

Thanks so much for your tips! How much of Jack is needed when running Pipewire? For instance, when installing jackd2 (if I'm not wrong) you get the question of whether you wish to enable realtime processing. Is this already done with Pipewire? With a functional Pipewire system, how much of the addit...

Pipewire for pro audio

As Pipewire seems to become the new standard, I'd really like to be less confused about it. So please join in and tell your experiences and how it works for you. I'm not too interested in how Pipewire replaces Pulseaudio, as this seems to be going rather smoothly, and also Pulseaudio isn't an enviro...

Re: QJackctl running on Pipewire, changing config?

I'd suggest you try qpwgraph instead. ;) I really appreciate you making qpwgraph! The lack of Pipewire GUIs is a bit challenging. 'Cause what's so good about qjackctl is that it's such a powerful config app: Sample rate, frames/period, device selection etc. I configure everything there. In Pipewire...

Re: Audiodamage other desert cities goes Blacklist

I run a system with a newer glibc, a system where Other Desert Cities actually loads. And I can use it in Qtractor, Carla and Reaper (those are the ones I tested), but Mixbus32C crashes a soon as I load the plugin (well, the demo). The message I'm getting is: Segmentation fault (core dumped) Strange...

Re: UMC1820 & ADA8200 ADAT Issues

I use UMC1820 and ADA8200 for an ambisonics setup. This means I don't know so much about the inputs, but I've been dealing quite a bit with the outputs. And the "Only input 7&8 pass sound through" looks rather similar to my issue of "Output 10-14 won't send any sound" (while ...

Re: Rave Generator 2 plugin needs Qt4 for the UI, but it's unsupported

Does anyone know how to make it work with newer systems?
I love Rave Generator 2, but currently the GUI isn't working anymore (the qt4/qt5 issue described in this thread).
I can still use presets, but it'd be a shame if this gem of a plugin was to be abandonded because of qt issues.

Thumbs up?

This might be silly and unimportant. But I think it would be great to have a thumbs up-button on LinuxMusicians. I come here a lot to read and check out things, but most often I don't have much to comment. So instead of filling the forum with "Great" or "Thanks for writing about this&...
