Re: ftz Chiptune ALPHA 0.2.0 (15.02.2017)

The comment about dynamic memory/realtime safety caught my eye and I was going to do a quick run with stoat on the synth(s), but I have to agree with other posters. Setting up all the dependencies is more work than it should be.

Re: Want A Different Save File Dialog For ZynAddSubFX

Using a GTK/Qt based file save dialog is extremely unlikely. Some of your issues with the fltk file save dialog are likely fixed in the zest (the new UI toolkit for 3.0.0 and beyond) file save dialog.

Re: Noise Repellent Survey

A quick listen to some of the samples seems to indicate that it does a decent job overall and superior to that of audacity algorithm. Based upon the artifacts with both I'd roughly guess noise-repellent is roughly 4-7 years behind state of the art and audacity's algorithm 10+ years behind state of t...

Re: Who pays for what ?

Do you financially support Ardour via a monthly payment? No, I don't use any daw FLOSS or otherwise. Do you support any other FLOSS project with regular payments? No, though I regularly donate time and try to fix bugs to the best of my ability when I encounter them. Did you donate money to any open...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

Is there a log file that tells me why ZynAddSubFX segfaulted? I did have 3.0.0 but upgraded to 3.0.1 in Arch Linux (3.0.1-1). The crash appeared to be random, so there's no guarantee that I can reproduce the problem again. I have two standalone instances of ZynAddSubFX. There's no logging mechanism...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

This is awesome, great work! Any chance of publishing the sources for the demo video? I like dissecting things other people have made to learn from them :) If you're trying to get some of the files used to generate the song in the video, I'd recommend asking unfa about it. You might be able to get ...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

Will Zyn-Fusion completely replace ZynaddsubFX? Zyn-Fusion is the name for the combination of ZynAddSubFX's synthesis engine (GPLv2+) and the new UI (currently non-free, but this is *temporary*). Or is it only a non-gratis GUI for whatever version people have in their repos? The UI is the only non-...

install libmxml (sometimes called libmxml1) from your distribution's package manager and it should work.

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

How do I try this new gui with my current install of zynaddsubfx? I had that installed with my package manager and I don't particularly want to run the install script to potentially mess with package manager files. It depends on how you want to run it. IIRC you should be able to cd into the extract...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

First, I'm trying to run the demo in Bitwig 1.3.13 on Fedora 21 x86_64. Alas, all I get is a black window and a bunch of error messages like these : This is the not-at-all obvious result of the UI never connecting to the audio generating side of things. As per the blank window, that could be a few ...

Re: [ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

so, i've managed to make them coexist in my arch installation (ZASF 3.0 from arch repos & Zyn-Fusion 3.0 demo), and played with them for a couple of hours. basically, both UI can do almost identical things (except for a few, such as visualizing EGs in non-free mode or LFOs), but the difference ...

[ANN] ZynAddSubFX 3.0.0 - Zyn-Fusion

Today marks the release of Zyn 3.0.0 aka Zyn-Fusion. For those of you who haven't been following this development the 3.0 release is all about resolving the major issues with the existing user interface. Based upon Budislav Stepanov's excellent mockups the 3.0 release features a completely rewritten...

Re: Releasing the "source code" of music

the main problem (as i see it) is the lack of documentation, tutorials and other educational stuff. so, we have a lot of cool software, but it's often too obscure how to operate it. i have mentioned above that i had to look into the source code to understand what exactly some knobs or sliders do. i...

Re: Releasing the "source code" of music

To someone (such as me) who can't code at all this is an interesting statement. Do you really mean that you wish that people like me would look at the source and take up coding so that we could benefit from your creation? Would you feel more reward from me studying your code and using it as inspira...

Re: Free software & money

Here's an interesting article on the subject of money: https://falkvinge.net/2014/06/22/why-buying-photoshop-instead-of-pirating-it-is-ethically-wrong/ Is that some sort of parody website? If not it's absurdly out-of-touch with reality. "demand that we pay tribute" - what utter nonsense, ...
