Re: Calf crashing Ardour solution (for me)
Hi all Looks like I've got the same problem - worked fine on my last two laptops... now Calf plugins instantly crash Ardour. This is a brand new install of Ubuntu Studio (16.04) with everything pretty much out of the box So... how do you remove the Calf ladspa plugins? ( Ubuntu Studio : 16.04 Ardou...

Re: Paul Davis at LAC 2017
Add to that the complexities of dealing with Linux audio & software configuration which puts it well beyond the scope and abilities of typical users whose intention was to use the software to make music and expected it to work "out of the box" as it does with MacOS or Windoze. I'd lik...

Re: Zynewave Podium x64 Linux with WINE bundled
Often the way a gui is coded, is at the heart of such issues.
I've got no problem with windows Reaper in wine, or linux Reaper.
I won' be able to try your package for a few weeks.
Your bundle is a clever way to present such a daw.
A new Podium version has just been released, good news.
Cheers

Re: petition at change.org
Show me something that comes even close to izotope ozone. Show me a mastering grade multiband saturation plugin with mid/side ability and multiple saturation types. How about a multiband stereo expander? A spring reverb (not an impulse response plugin)? I don't see how there is anything to agree on...

Re: Zynewave Podium x64 Linux with WINE bundled
The terminal output lists about 20 repeated lines of
'libpng warning: Ignoring gAMA chunk with gamma=0'
before everything locks up.
I installed a newer libpng, and libpng3,
but still got the same results.
I didn't see anything that seems related
in /var/log texts.

Re: petition at change.org
Following on from that, I frequently post music to soundcloud. I've lost count of the number of times I've been asked if a particular patch has come from a-n-nother commercial synth  Zynaddsub/fx/yoshimi are definitely among the best sounding instruments, and the 16 part layering makes them am...

Re: petition at change.org
I believe that if we could make a double blind comparison of plugins (which might actually be impossible for synths) we would end up finding out that there isn't actually a higher quality margin in commercial ones (or a not very significant one) Along those lines, the more tracks that join a mix, t...

Re: Zynewave Podium x64 Linux with WINE bundled
Wow. Not one response. :?: Is Podium still being developed? The latest installer is from 2014. I just installed it, to be fair, in a fully working wine 2.11, where reaper is quite happy, and running Podium instantly locks up the computer, forcing a logout. What wine version is in your download? Che...

Re: petition at change.org
There are quite a few free linux vsts that are very capable, but to date, have not had a professional or world-class sound designer from mac/win confines, create full collections* of sounds for any of them. I have about 40 free and commercial vsti's that i use to find inspirational sounds, and of th...

Re: petition at change.org
With all due respect, never ever understood the plugin quest and probably never will. A writer might study a wall of classic literature, and master the thesaurus, hoping to bring excellence to the writing craft. 'But why puruse the works of masters and experts, when one can already write with prope...

Isn't this part of a monopoly position? If you want .... you can only do that with .... but not with ..... Can't this be forced? Kontakt is not quite a monopoly. IK Multimedia, Cakewalk, UVI, Steinberg, and AirTech, among others, are in competition, IK are soon to release their latest product, $99 ...

Re: petition at change.org
Probably close to none, as the U-he products are cross platform, support is at hand for whatever mac and win setups and licenses a customer has, and any linux users will have researched the situation because of it's uniqueness, and easily come to your conclusion, that a purchase is not very risky. C...

Before starting Bitwig, try running command
sudo modprobe snd_virmidi
and then do the other mentioned steps.
Good luck.
