Re: What tools are you missing

My intention was a good one, but seems to have the exact opposite effect. Usually a good practice is to start a new thread and say something like , "this was discussed before in [link to old thread], and its been a while so I thought I'd pick it back up" Ironically this thread started whe...

Re: Fiwe - wireless audio effects

Hi Fiwe: Some of us devs were discussing Fiwe on IRC. It looks like a cool project, and we appreciate your acknowledgement of our projects in https://fiwe.studio/effects-providers/ but it seems like you've been going for a while, and distrubuted our GPL projects in your binaries without source. Coul...

Re: How can I run a basic MIDI sampler on Raspberry Pi?

maybe it would make sense to start from the zynthian OS build and remove parts you don't need? See http://zynthian.org/ I think you'll definitely want jack, but maybe for this 1 purpose you'd be ok going direct to the ALSA driver level. Depending on the number of samples, petri-foo (https://github.c...

Re: Best synths?

If you just want comprehensive lists, then there is linuxsynths.com too. :)

I was looking for short lists to be produced here. :) I don't have time to audition all of them.

EDIT: FTR, I like Helm a lot, Zyn, amsynth, and phasex (but I don't use it much because its not a plugin).

Re: For those of you that use samplers - do you use GIG?

The only GIG format sample that I use is the Maestro Concert Grand, but I have been looking for a replacement. I'm even considering recording with a real piano. I wouldn't be disappointed if GIG support was dropped. The salamander grand is an alternative (https://rytmenpinne.wordpress.com/sounds-an...

Re: Rakarrack and wah automation

well you should be able to just connect the soundcard input to the ACI input of rackarrack. When you say it reads noise not voltage I believe it is because you don't have any voltage supply, therefore no real signal. You need a voltage applied to one side of the pot, then the ground and middle pin g...

Re: Rakarrack and wah automation

For your expression pedal to deliver such you would need to input it some signal generator, and your expression pedal would adjust volume of signal inputted to microphone jack. Then you would need to somehow convert those signal level changes to midi control messages. Doesn't sound very handy, but ...

I believe that is indeed very difficult to configure (if not impossible). Sorry :(

Re: Rakarrack and wah automation

Oh cool,

are you familiar with running jack? Connect the input from the mic to an scope program like x42-scope oscrolloscope, jack-scope etc (I've used a few, most are fine) and make sure you can see the signal rise and lower.

Rackarrack may need some setting to enable the ACI, but I don't remember.

Re: Guitar Virtual Instrument for Linux ?

It would clearly be too irregular for a collab to be practical. Except if you find someone who doesn't mind playing a few riffs on demand, as soon as I'm opening Ardour (so if I happen to make music at 5 in the morning, that guy better be motivated). I understand that feeling, but it doesn't have t...

Re: Rakarrack and wah automation

ok, that was my first assumption. So the deal is it really depends on the audio interface. Expression pedals work by creating a voltage divider using the pot. This means the voltage and ground come from somewhere and the pedal makes a "middle" signal between the 2 depending on the pot posi...
