Re: Ardour + multi-interface setup

Thanks khz, I had a go with jack_load but apparently audiodevice.so isn't provided in any way for Fedora distributions! I'm stuck with alsa_in and I'll look at file a bug against it.

Re: Behringer U-Phoria Um2 and other issue

The ram thing sounds like you’re running a 32bit OS. Make sure you installed a 64bit one. What is the output of uname -a ?

Re: Alsa & Kernel Versions & Audio Interfaces

File a bug against liquorix or ask for help in their forum, they don't appear to be building all the necessary alsa kernel modules.

Re: Ardour + multi-interface setup

you can use the command alsa_in to get other soundcard inputs to work with the main jack card.

https://jackaudio.org/faq/multiple_devices.html

The drawbacks are if you end up with weird timing issues you may experience odd clicks and pops. I never have though.

Re: How to install LinuxSampler.

Then use linuxsampler, I warn you though, the licence makes it a liability.

Re: Hardware Synths and Audio Interface suggestion

Midi can shove 16 channels down one cable, you only need one channel per synth, if the synths have MIDI In and MIDI Thru then you can probably daisy chain them.

Re: How to install LinuxSampler.

Afaik, they can change the license if they wants it and the main dev even mentioned that loosening the license is something they consider. All power to them if they get a license change, but it seems unlikely. As I mentioned, we've been here before: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?p=72851#...

Re: capturing/ recording the sound from guitarix with Audacity

Oh, of course, you need to go into preferences and tell Audacity to use Jack in the devices instead of ALSA.

Re: capturing/ recording the sound from guitarix with Audacity

Audacity is a pain in the bum for not having it's ports persistent. I use the qjackctl patchbay rules with wildcards to auto connect stuff to audacity like that.

Re: How to install LinuxSampler.

LinuxSampler is licensed under the GNU GPL with the exception that USAGE of the source code, libraries and applications FOR COMMERCIAL HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE PRODUCTS IS NOT ALLOWED without prior written permission by the LinuxSampler authors. Isn't it clear enough? No, because the addition of the ex...

Re: How to install LinuxSampler.

https://davidbolton.info/articles/build_linuxsampler.html It's in KXstudio repos Afaik LinuxSampler is a powerful application and much further in development then Sfizz is. And I don't see why it should change Best thing would be to make Linuxsampler full GPL and let the community improve the SFZ p...
