The state of Linux DAWs in 2021?
I haven't kept up to date with Linux DAWs for the last year or so. Has there been any major developments to existing DAWs or the arrival of any good new ones? I'm most interested in general midi and piano roll functionality as that's what all Linux DAWs seem to be the worst at in my experience. Zryt...

Re: Screen resolution question
Resolution & refresh rate are limited by the cable you use. I remember I had this issue a few years back trying to run a 4K display at 60Hz. I could only get 30Hz or instead get 60Hz at a lower resolution. Try getting a new cable that can handle the resolution and refresh rate you want. You migh...

Re: Has anyone tried the hardware iLok USB device with linux?
Last time I spoke to iZotope, they actually tried to help me get my plugins running on Linux. They weren't that committed to helping of course, seeing as they don't officially support Linux. But I didn't get the impression they were intentionally borking their products on Linux. But yeh, I imagine t...

Re: Getting Jack xrun errors - over/underrun?
The CPU governor makes a huge difference. At least it always has in my experience. I used to just run Performance mode all the time. But yeh, that wastes a lot of power at times when your computer would normally be idling, underclocked & undervolted plus the potential extra fan noise from that. ...

Re: Scarlett 2i2 could not reconnect to audio/MIDI engine
This might be something to do with exporting hardware ports. I know I did that recently (Can't remember why) and it the names for audio & midi ports changed when I looked at them in Patchage (Or maybe they had two names). When I look at them in Claudia, I think it maybe shows two entries for eac...

Ah. I keep getting confused with all the steps I've been through recently. I'll leave it at 80 then! Thanks

Re: Realtime priority?
Thanks for the reply. It's cool though, I think I've got it setup right now :) I tried to create the realtime group but it already existed so I added myself to it. For some reason that uninstalled realtime-privileges and removed the config file so I reinstalled that and the config file was recreated...

Re: Realtime priority?
Ah... ok, then just leave it uncommented and you should be fine. Likely the other file has no function at all. I've never seen that 99 file. Ok. I will do for now. I think it's an Arch thing by the looks of it. As far as I can tell, when realtime-privileges was installed, it should've added a realt...

Re: Realtime priority?
Ah right. I didn't realise the repo installed it to a different place so that's why it didn't work. Anyway, here's the output: == GUI-enabled checks == Checking if you are root... no - good Checking filesystem 'noatime' parameter... 5.6.7 kernel - good (relatime is default since 2.6.30) Checking CPU...

Re: Realtime priority?
You can comment the lines in the file /etc/security/limits.conf out. Then the values from /etc/security/limits.conf/99-realtime-privileges.conf should be taken. You can check with the realtimeconfig script if it works. Ah cool. That sounds like a good way to check :) I installed realtimeconfigquick...

Re: Realtime priority?
I was just following this video which I saw posted in another thread here because it's for Manjaro KDE which is what I'm using:https://youtu.be/vgrqMv3Lzfk?t=708 And I did this part where he added some lines to /etc/security/limits.conf. He said this is necessary because although there was an audio ...

Re: Realtime priority?
Did you do "regsvr32 wineasio.dll" and "wine64 regsvr32 wineasio.dll" ? Yes I did. I followed the current guide here which was pretty convenient seeing I use Manjaro (Arch based) & FL Studio: https://github.com/wineasio/wineasio It never shows up in FL Studio though so I hav...

Re: Anyone using an Audient iD interface?
Edit: Damn it. Just realised when this thread was posted. I'll leave my reply anyway.. Thanks for the replies. I'm not using the front D.I. input at at all. The back has two inputs and two outputs. I'm sending the two outputs to my studio monitors and use the interface as my sound card with my compu...

Re: Realtime priority?
Could you post lsusb -v output for this device? (preferably ' sudo lsusb -v -d [vendor]:[product] > somefile ' and then attach resulting file). Sorry, I don't get how to use that command exactly. I tried a couple of things but they didn't work. lsusb shows it as this: Bus 003 Device 004: ID 2708:00...

Re: Realtime priority?
I remember seeing your thread quite recently actually. My interface is quite new so it's possible it could have an issue I haven't picked up on yet. But the thing is, I use a Windows DAW via WINE so I've got to suspect that the most. I can never get wineasio working but it would probably help quite ...
