Re: [Ardour] Copy pattern across tracks
Thanks for your answers but that's not what I'm looking for. I know how to select and duplicate regions, but I want to group multiple regions in multiple tracks (not necessary all tracks and all regions within a range) together and move them while keeping their distances. I know this can be done jus...

[Ardour] Copy pattern across tracks
Hi, I often face the following situation: I create a segment like a chorus made of many tracks - midi and audio tracks - and also multiple regions within the tracks. Later in the song I want to repeat the whole thing again, including every track and every automation. Copying all the stuff and move i...

Re: JACK is Hannibal Lector with an ear fetish
Plugins and Jack are not mutually exclusive. Plugins are managed by your DAW or a simple plugin-host while Jack allows you to connect different music applications and use them together. If you are overstrained by the routing possibilities of Jack I suggest that you use a single DAW like Ardour. It m...

Re: JACK Audio: How to make Headphones work ?
Check if the headphones are muted by alsamixer (un/muting can be done by pressing 'm'). This happens for me from time to time without any noticeable reason. If not: What are playback_3,4,5 and 6 ? Try connecting each PulseAudio Port to each playback port and see if you get a signal in any configurat...

[Jackd] connect client as different user
Hi, I'm on ArchLinux. I start the jackd server as userA . Then I switch the user by su su -l userB And then I want to start a client program (let's say jack_midi_dump, but it doesn't matter). Unfortunately I'm always getting this error jack server is not running or cannot be started JackShmReadWrite...

Re: Can't Find The Exit - Guitar/Synth Rock
Thank you all for your kind words, I'm really glad you like it. @milo: I mainly use a very cheap MultiFx Device, a Digitech RP55. It has nice effect unit called Acoustic Guitar Simulation, that's what you are hearing in the clean parts. Beside that I use a LV2 plugin called Roomy for reverb and some...

Can't Find The Exit - Guitar/Synth Rock
Hi, I recorded a song mainly using Ardour, amsynth and some other LV2 Plugins. I tried to combine heavy energetic with slow emotional parts with focus on the guitar but using synth/samples as support. It would make me very happy if some of you would like to check it out. https://soundcloud.com/user-...

I'm using aubio for this. It runs natively under linux and does a quite good job.

Re: I can't get my MIDI controller recognized. Please Help.
Again, first try different midi drivers for jack. If you're lucky the jack midi ports will show up after started starting pd. If not, try ajmidid which creates a jack midi port for every ALSA midi port on your system. So first connect your midi device, then launch jack jack -d alsa -X raw Then launc...

Re: I can't get my MIDI controller recognized. Please Help.
You can try different midi drivers. You can specify them with -X option. You can chose between none, raw and seq. Default is none. I can use my Korg nanokontrol only with the raw driver. jackd -d alsa -X raw My device is than listed as system:capture_midi_1. Another option would be using a2jmidid wh...

Re: System hangs after shutdown of jack
Hi,
thank you very much!
The problem was not jack itself but mod-host, an application using jack. I quit all applications using jack (and jack itself) in a script. Adding -s KILL to all kill commands solved the problem.

[SOLVED] System hangs after shutdown of jack
Hi @ all, since the last system update (ArchLinuxARM) I have the problem that the system is really slow / sometimes unresponsive after I stop jack. While jack is running everything is fine. When I stop it I get long delays between typing commands an their execution. I type a character and after 10s ...

Re: Soundcraft Notepad 8FX
I don't know this specific device but from my experience with mixer devices similar to this one I would say they are not the best choice for recording. Most of them are quite noisy and you can just record OR playback but not both simultaneously. If your focus is on the mixer functionality then go fo...

Re: Combined low-/high cut lv2 plugin
Thanks man.
I didn't see this functionality in the calf equalizer, seems to be exactly what I was looking for.
This ardour plugin was what I had in mind when asking this questions but it's Lua script and I need a LV2 plugin.

Combined low-/high cut lv2 plugin
Hi, I'm looking for a LV2 plugin which can act as an low- and a high cut filter simultaneously. So from its functionality it should act like a band pass filter but I just want to have controls for the low and the high cut off frequency. Maybe also two resonance controls. Would be very nice if someon...
