Re: Introduction

Hi phfactor! Please let us know how it goes. Ask questions and you're certain to get some highly opinionated responses, whatever the subject: hardware choices, system configuration, effects plugins, etc etc etc.

Wow, that's amazing... Bonus points for being totally on-topic while responding to my tangential ranting and raving :)

Re: Why run Windows software on Linux?

Let's support each other on our journeys, rather than scolding each other for not having "made it there" yet. Hear hear... Let's be honest, there are a LOT of things to learn. Some are easy, some are hard. What's easy for me might be hard for somebody else, what's easy for that person mig...

Re: Clarinet

Very clean. You're playing right on the beat though. If you're going to cut it again, see if you can jump it and lag in spots. That's funny, we weren't playing to a click track. I just handed my brother-in-law sheet music one day when he came to visit, we went over it three times, then I hit the re...

Re: Hello from Colorado!

Hi All, Just made the leap to recording (or attempting to) in Linux (Mint). I've got a Focusrite 18i8 audio interface and installed Reaper and everything seems to work just fine. Looking forward to this journey. Dale Hi Dale, I wave in your general direction from the other side of the Rocky Mountai...

Re: Why run Windows software on Linux?

That reminds me, I forgot to add the rosewood, koa, and spruce trees to my orchard  Ha! I was just going to ask if you were growing the wood yourself! As we're already way of topic anyway, I'll mention that my dad just helped me build a workbench in my garage; now I'm really considering what...

Re: Clarinet

If you've got any melodies you've written, I'm game for cutting you a bass track. I listened to the track you linked to. Like others said, there was a bit of natural reverb, but you're very clean with the clarinet itself. I do have a jazz box here, so I might be able to wing a rhythm track too, if ...

Oh wow, I wonder if there is some way we could talk them into releasing the source... I would even be willing to contribute some money.

Re: Installing plugins on a Linux DAW

Pascal, I think we need a clarification. Are you wanting to use Windows-native plugins on Linux, or are you wanting help with Linux-native plugins?

Re: Carla/SFZero transpose problem

I think it is fairly well known that SFZero does not fully support all of the SFZ opcodes that are supported by LinuxSampler. SFZ is one of those troublesome formats in which different sample players have implemented all sorts of non-standard features, and some of which later become de facto feature...

Re: Best orchestral sounfont?

Hi Michael, The sound is convincing. When I have time I will try your ardour preset. Nice. I must admit, I've learned a lot since I made that template, I have been considering overhauling it to be much more simple. Right now it has dozens of busses, but lately I found a way to give each section its...

It's a Schrödinbugger. You can't put the cat back in the box after it is out.

Edit: I realize that this is a direct contradiction of my previous comment... In case it is not clear, this is kind of a joke.

Re: Dragonfly Hall Reverb

Does it write something into the filesystem? No, all state is controlled by the plug-in host (the daw). To render the spectrogram, it has a separate instance of the reverb algorithm. It simulates a burst of white noise and then runs the algorithm through its course, collecting the frequency respons...
