Re: Error when building Ardour 7.5

Well it says right at the top recompile with -fPIC
So try that.
If you have a dollar to spare you could just go and download the official binary.

Re: Simple OBS recording startup

Start by opening the advanced audio properties [Untitled].jpg And check which tracks your audio inputs are assigned to. I like to have the desktop audio on one track and the mic on another so I can edit them independently. But note when playing back the video in a regular video playing app it will o...

Re: Simple OBS recording startup

I am running Debian bookworm with latest OBS. I only want to record, no streaming. I am able to record video to MP4 which works fine. Microphone not recorded but OBS displays appropriate volume levels. Microphone goes into Behringer UB802 with invisible microphone preamp and then into computer Line...

Re: Copy left and right question

It's a stretch; you make a table, should you be able to dictate its use? Artistic freedom seeking to limit artistic freedom? The person who owns the table should be able to decide its use. All of it, bottom line: if you have no intention to release it to Public Domain at all then maybe you should k...

Re: Copy left and right question

When there's no money involved just crediting the 'original' creator (which I've always been more than happy to do) should suffice, But the original creator might not want you to use the work. What about if you were using their work in connection with some political purpose that they were opposed t...

frankly I have no clue what all the rules are, always thought that as long as you were not making money anything was permitted.

A lot of people think this for some reason. The issue is using someone's work without their permission, it's unrelated to money.

I don't think 'analogue emulation' in principle is snake oil.

It is when it's not analogue emulation :)

Re: What videogame are you playing?

I don't really play games these days but when I do it tends to be multiplayer games like 0ad, Open RA, ET legacy, Haven and Hearth. There's a really old game (I think it was originally for Amiga) called Knights which I enjoy (https://www.knightsgame.org.uk/).

Re: What are you currently reading?

I've just finished reading everything I can find by Erle Stanley Gardner (except the Cool and Lam stories because I don't care for them so much). And now I'm almost at the end of Leading the Rebellion by this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtU9EFD-1Sg

I wanted to ask, did you compare HISE performance with IPP and without it?

No I haven't done any direct comparisons. IPP is proprietary so as far as I'm concerned it doesn't exist :)

Re: Sofia Woodwinds

Thanks Alex, I'm glad you like the sound of them. I think the clarinets are particularly good. The brass is complete, has been for about a year (actually there is a bug I need to fix, but it's 99.9% ready). I'm reluctant to release it though because of the poor sales of Sofia Woodwinds and I'm not t...
