Re: Big noise from Jack when connecting in and out
Hello, Don't know about your soundcard, but does it offer h/w monitoring ? Do you have to use s/w monitoring as you describe it ? What happens if instead of connecting sys:capture to sys:playback from qjackctl, you let ardour do the s/w monitoring for you ? (look into some ardour menu options from t...

Re: Rosegarden and Jackmidi
yes, a2jmidi is the way to go. Make sure you disable the qjackctl MIDI driver setting (set it to "none" in the setup window).

Re: Addictive Drums - loops? Rosegarden? . . .Bueller?
Hello lathqe I believe there is another discussion thread about this very topic. I don't use the loops myself, I prefer programming everything in the piano roll (yes, every note + velocity, etc, tedious but what a result!) but another AD user wanted to work around the lack of drag-n-drop capability....

Re: Addictive Drums - loops? Rosegarden? . . .Bueller?
Hi, When I was active using rosegarden (1.7.3, did not have the time to keep up with the 10.x releases), I could use dssi-vst, either standalone so AD would look like an app of its own, or within rosegarden as a plugin. The latter turned out more convenient but RG could not expose all the AD control...

Re: Is anyone making any money as a musician? (mp3 sales)
when I went to tease Bob Ohlsson and his forum-mates, I had some hard time explaining to these guys that one can be dedicated without exposing himself or herself to the "outside world" (whether by trying to make a living out of it or get some recognition of some kind, be it popularity, don...

Re: Is anyone making any money as a musician? (mp3 sales)
when I started making my own music, I discovered how deeply it resonated in me, and how much of myself I was putting in my compositions. The conclusion was that any "commercial ambitions" I might have nurtured originally just evaporated without a second thought. I will not make money from ...

Re: Several tunes made with din
much better
You also have widened the freq gap (nothing between ~9K to ~ 43K. still some crap above ~ 43K).

Re: Several tunes made with din
nice high altitude zoning (greengrass) :) I looked into jaaa, noticed quite some high freq noise with a big gap in between audible and non-audible freq: http://img815.imageshack.us/i/lverona.jpg I also listened to it in my headphones at work. There is some hissing sound all along the track. Was any ...

Re: FREE ALBUM DOWNLOAD: Everything You've Heard About Love
Hey! Just listening to it right now. Good production although I feel the songs are too focused on the same ingredients. If you are the singer, your voice fits really good in that style of rock :) I find the 1st song a bit weak in its composition (pop harmonies, overuse of power chords and forced emp...

Re: Harrison Mixbus is now available for Linux
Well, from what I've understood is that some people fear that with the arrival of Harrison Mixbus the focus on Ardour will even get bigger, ie. more LV2 plugins that use GTK but also more and more functionality that should be part of JACK that gets implemented in Ardour instead. reading the jack-de...

Re: Harrison Mixbus is now available for Linux
Hello, I have been very silent for a while and am still very far from having the freedom I used to enjoy w.r.t my own music project (complete standby for ~ a year, and my wife and I are expecting a second child my mid-August :) Maybe I'll resume my music work when I am 50 ... ) Anyway, here ar...

hi James,
if you use jack2, use "jackd -S" in the QjackCtl setup (server name field).

Re: snd-aloop, jack, etc
as far as I can tell, you have to compile your ALSA drivers for each kernel. Not sure that installation of precompiled stuff would work. So if you have a 2 kernel install (normal and RT-patched), you have to go through the compilation procedure I have outlined in the howto for both. Yeah, I know, yo...

Re: snd-aloop, jack, etc
... mmmm, there seems to be conflicting things but it is very hard to guess from this output. Can you use the loopback device without jack ? say, if it is your ALSA default (defined in ~/.asoundrc), can you try something like: mplayer -ao alsa <some audio file> ?? does mplayer play the file alright ...
