In short, no, don't do it if you are a pro audio user. I don't believe it is ready for primetime.

I wish people would stop parroting this.

Re: Nyquist plugginnings... (pitch-shifting)

Put it into a sampler, set the root to C4 or whatever, then play it at the interval you want to pitch shift it by.

Re: Ardour 8 released

It's always easy to ask "Why can't someone code it?", but there aren't that many people qualified to do exactly that in the first place. As the saying goes, patches welcome. :) Well, that's exactly why I am suggesting that this would be best done by the ardour devs if it was them who alre...

Re: Ardour 8 released

No plans to implement support for the old ones. Someone with a bit of code familiarity will likely be able to take the mk3 versions and generate ones that work for the older models. Why can't this be done by people with lots of code experience and know how the devices work, aka whoever added the ex...

Re: Ardour 8 released

Interesting, looks like a feature packed release. I hope they extend the launchpad support beyond the new ones - I do need to upgrade my mk2 but would be nice to have that supported as well.

Re: Dark Hope - Help me define the genre

Great track! Dark indeed. I've heard some similar styles in dark ambient somewhere between the ritual and industrial sub genres.

Re: Arturia MicroFreak - Midi Control Center problems

That's a shame, I thought that might have been the solution. I just tried Mint on a usb stick and it doesn't work for me there with my keystep. I may have to give up at this point, not sure what else we can try and I'm not convinced it will work on any setup now.

Re: Arturia MicroFreak - Midi Control Center problems

Okeeeey, after compiling wine for about 2-3 weeks (gawd it took some time) I searched the terminal log ...not really sure what's really going on here or if this trail lost its heat or not Yeah it's a big one. That's really interesting, I didn't spot that when I tried it. Do you have lib32-libusb in...

Re: Plugin development philosophy

Heaven forbid you learn to use something. Maybe there are no presets because noone knows how to use compressors after X years of everyone using presets. I've been making and mixing music both in a computer and on hardware in studios for over 20 years. As I said in my post, wanting presets isn...

Re: Plugin development philosophy

@GMaq, do you have any opinions about this? As somebody who curates plugins for AVLinux, would it be beneficial to have more "just add magic" plugins? Or are we at a point that Linux has a too-many-plugins problem? Not him but I reckon there is a lot of room for growth with linux plugins ...

Re: Plugin development philosophy

One indicator (a strong one for me) is that most plugins don't have presets. Please point me to an EQ or Compressor etc. that has builtin presets named after instruments or singing ranges and also sorted by musical genre. I open an EQ an I want "male singing voice, pop" or "acoustic ...

Re: Arturia MicroFreak - Midi Control Center problems

I just compiled the git package and it picked up that I have libusb installed:

checking for libusb.h... yes
checking for libusb_interrupt_event_handler in -lusb-1.0... yes

However, nothing changed. Not sure what else to try :(

Re: Arturia MicroFreak - Midi Control Center problems

I wasn't able to get it installed, I can get the software centre working but installation of the Midi Control Center fails because it can't find the OS or something. If you skip installing the MIDI driver it will install. Ah yeah you're right, I can get it to install but it's the driver that fails....
