Re: Summing Box Hardware or Plugin
Then you should describe what you expect from summing stuff. I understand that it's not about simply summing up the signal but improving it. If it's about simply summing up there's no need at all for it. It can be done in the DAW with the best possible quality. What about Harrison Mixbus marketing ...

Can you explain your opinion on summing along with any articles or studies for support? [...] That's a matter of taste. But this coloring is understood and can be simulated by plugins, too. Is this your answer to the original question as well or just my question above? The purpose of this thread is...

Re: Summing Box Hardware or Plugin
From a technical point of view the sound can only get worse when feeding through an external hardware chain. Can you explain your opinion on summing along with any articles or studies for support? Technically, the sound has to be converted from digital to analog, processed (note that some "ana...

Welcome! Thank God there are gear issues. Else there would be no excuse for making no music.

It happens with a single interface connected to the PC as well.Jack Winter wrote:AFAIK that is a possibility with more than one card.

Re: Summing Box Hardware or Plugin
Can you explain what "summing" is? I though it is simply mixing the channels together and that can be done with a hardware mixer or internally in a DAW or a modular setup "in the box". How could that improve the sound or the width? EDIT: after some thinking about I came to the co...

Do you have an interface that works best with 48000 instead of 44100?
This is no discussion of 48000 vs. 96000 vs. 192000 and so on but the question if some audio interfaces work better with 48000 than with 44100. With my Focusrite Scarlett USB interfaces (Solo, 2i2, 2i4) I noticed that I can run them at 44100 with a buffer size of 64 without xruns. But at 48000 I can...

Re: Do you use a sound server? If so, which one? Several?
I have jack-mixer as a central jack "hub" and use jack-plumbing to disconnect all clients that try to connect to system:out and connect them to jack-mixer. So I have jack-mixer as a central point for recordings with Audacity.

Place MIDI and AUDIO INSERTs in your tracks and buses and you can do all sane and insane routing stuff.Michael Willis wrote: So far I like the fact that a midi track represents a single midi channel, instead of a full 16-channel midi device (like in Ardour), but I haven't gotten much farther than that.

Re: Poll: What samplerate do you use with jack?
...But if all the basic tracks were upsampled to 32/96 and mixed in this domain, using plug-ins running 32/96 etc. and the master eventually downsampled to 16/44.1, then the resulting master would most likely sound a lot better than the original mix, even though both are 16/44.1 hmmm… interesting! ...

Re: 2 interfaces, 2 jackd, couple them
The audioadapter internal client is the best solution for me. I can't believe that it is so badly documented, especially the internal clients audioadapter and netadapter. Scarlett 2i4: jackd -p512 -t2000 -dalsa -r48000 -p128 -n2 -Xseq -dhw:1 Add Scarlett 2i2: jack_load -i "-dhw:2 -p64 -r48000&q...

Re: 2 interfaces, 2 jackd, couple them
I'm not sure right now if the "audioadapter" command is important. "audioadapter" may be superfluous. The " jack_load " command is important! Once you have found the working setting, please document it comprehensibly for other users. Good documentation is so helpful! :...

Re: 2 interfaces, 2 jackd, couple them
No idea anymore. I was desperate and had searched the Internet for a solution. There were not much contributions/documentation and if then very different to it. After several failed attempts of the different possibilities, the "audioadapter" worked. I documented it right away in the net b...

Interesting but I can't find the word "audioadapter" there. Where did you find docs about the audioadapter feature?khz wrote:>> http://jackaudio.org/faq/multiple_devices.html
