Re: Linux kernel dev team

I've written the author who wrote the patch for CVE-2017-2636 to get his opinion and find if this has affected him. I hope to hear back soon. Perhaps it's being reported incorrectly. Who knows.

Linux kernel dev team

Edit: It was made clear to me by Largos that the reason the dev team had rejected commits was based on sanctions against the company of origin. This makes much more sense. ------ Original post So the Linux kernel dev team have decided not to accept contributions from Russian organizations sighting t...

Re: When is enough, enough..?

I agree with the frustration. There is software like bombono and Loki games that I still use but I have to have an offline system to use them. I guess virtual machines or containers would also work nicely. But often times there are ways to continue to use software when projects are abandoned. And so...

Re: When is enough, enough..?

Thinking back to the release of both kde 4 and pulse audio, things were in very unstable shape. But it was exciting to try out the new tech. Being a Linux user is being a continual tester. I have zero experience with packaging for or maintaining a distro. But I can see how it would feel impossible a...

Re: When is enough, enough..?

I understand the frustration. My practice has always been not to upgrade in the middle of production on audio work. Things love to break. I recently moved to fedora, maybe a year or so ago, and I must say they're doing a good job of not breaking user space between versions. I would al.ost suggest us...

Re: What programs do you use to make music on Linux?

Also you can drop whatever samples you want in that directory. I use ogg because I don't know if any other format works. But you can sample anything you like for lmms. Also there are track controls where you can change pitch, length, speed and add effects to your samples. Pretty useful stuff.

Re: Hyrdogen appears out of sync with Ardour (maybe a Jack issue?)

dpkg --configure -a may help. sudo apt-get clean -y ; sudo apt update -y ; sudo apt upgrade -y ; sudo apt autoremove -y

May help, then you can figure out what missing library you don't have that is not allowing the package to be installed. ?

The ride is just a db too harsh for me. But the song as a whole is superbly done.

Re: Ubuntu Studio support methods, current situation?

Other than switching your distro you do have the option of paid support for a single machine. It's about 25 USD billed yearly from Ubuntu. Ubuntu Studio or recognized as an official distro of Ubuntu. If paid is not a good option I would agree that contacting the author of the code would be your very...

My nephew reminded me of this stupid song

This is a seriously dumb song I made in 2011 using lmms and hydrogen just being stupid. It's called Applebees.

Re: Distorted sound with Ubuntu

Yes, hopefully it is as simple as upgrading the PSU. I was thinking the GPU may be involved depending on the power consumption as it will vary depending on the load it is under. Could not be a factor. But noise is usually from the power source or power management as in capacitors and components. The...

Re: Distorted sound with Ubuntu

I don't see any bad caps in your picture. But that 264w max psu could max out power via pci on your gpu depending on your display manager or if your software is rendering via the GPU. Could just be pulling too many watts. Not honestly sure on this one. But the PSU is suspect to me. 😃

Re: Distorted sound with Ubuntu

I have had issues in the past with low grade power supplies introducing noise in the sound card. It sounds like it could be possible in what you're describing. If I understand correctly, you had no problems prior to moving your sound card to a new motherboard and power supply. To me this would indic...

Re: Php ,JavaScript

I may set up a test server if anyone would like to test it when its done. I'll add you to the tester credits on the about page. Right now I have a test server with 10 users that are friends. But it would be nice if anyone else wanted to check it out and send bugs and requests. The current test serve...
