Re: spam
Unfortunately Spammers are difficult or impossible to control through completely automatic means. I've been a moderator on other boards and it's really a never-ending job to try and keep up with it. Thanks to Nathan and the other moderators for keeping it as clean as it is.

Re: spam
I think the admins should check each day which new members are registered. It's easy to see who is a spammer and it would be nice if those could be removed before they can do any harm...

Re: phpBB, or... ?
I think spam will be an issue no matter what software we use. Currently, we're looking into some more plugins that will help keep spam to a minimum. SMF is good software (I'm a moderator on another SMF board, and I used to run ...

phpBB, or... ?
Hi,
I know we've have updated this board recently, but phpbb seems very interesting for spam/ bot etc.
Isn't is wise to change to another service in the future?
for example
http://www.simplemachines.org/
or isn't that better?

... posting accounts with random nicknames from bots... You (we) have to update to a more recent version of phpbb. There are a lot of security and spam issues fixed. I (we) had the same problem with the forum.jacklab.net but now the situation is fine. If you need help, I'm sure gimpel @ irc.freenode.net ...
