Re: The Best LADSPA/LV2/DSSI plugins

They say these plugins are the best for mixing: caps They are called C* since 2008 or so. ... and tap Tap has not seen a new version since 2005 (I` d be very happy to stay corrected on this). Some of them provoke crashes and other stress also for me. Especially the deesser. I think a Linux Plugin-B...

Re: Announcing CAP2010

I am experimenting with layered rythm-patterns of sounds that tend to may be called "minimal". Over time I have a lot of drafts and I really do not know, how to structurize them to become lively, functioning pieces of music. So your project looks very interesting to me and I'd like to list...

Re: Hydrogen 0.9.5-rc1 released

Have just compiled it and it works very much to my satisfaction :-) Scons did not find out, that libflac-dev was not installed on my Ubuntu lucid and stopped with a complaint. Installing the package solved the problem. The biggest improvements for me are the pianoroll-mode (really fat, powerfull Tom...

Re: Best budget condenser?

I have a AKG Perception 100 and I was a bit disappointed. The vocals recorded with it sounded quite dull and lacked strength and detail. But then somebody stole my cheapo-Phonic-Mixer that I used for a preamp with the mike. So I had a good reason to go for another mixer and bought a small Mackie VLZ...

Yes, it can be used as an Editor. You can apply FX and export ranges as you can with any other editor...

Re: A good audio editor?

Rezound is great but it is in desperate need for an upgrade. It does not really fit in the recent audio-environment of Linux. Especially its jack-implementation is ancient to say it friendly... I am absolutely enthusiastic about sonic visualizer: http://www.sonicvisualiser.org/ it supports jack very...

Re: Do you listen to your own music?

Most of the time I hear the stuff to spot mistakes  But some weeks ago I drove to a workshop and burned a CD with my recordings as a giveaway for the people there and I wanted to find out, weather the disk works in my car-cd --- well -- I cranked up the volume and had a lot of fun ;-) Quentin ...

perfectly in sync. I'm a drummer by nature folks.: Good to know that :-) I had it recording the same song in 3 seperate steps for bassdrums, snare and cymbals and all 3 tracks fitted together perfectly well. The recent version is really a major improvement. Worked with it the other day and the new ...

Re: Hey

Hey chimples, welcome :-) There is much hype about specialized distros - dont take this too serious. What is really important: 1.) well supported hardware (your audio-interface that is, MAudio and RME-PCI-cards are strongly recommended, most others work too but you should check, wheather you interfa...

Re: FOSS and VST

Ciao Louigi, I mean, knowing FL-Studio as you do is great, but does it really make you trapped in using it and nothing else ? Not absolutely, but do you not stick with things you know and tend to apply methods you can handle again and again? I just wanted to understand why you were giving up a 7 ye...

Re: FOSS and VST

I do not see a lack of capable synths for Linux here but a lack of patches, that sound the way you like. I find it hard to believe, that Zynadd AMS, Calfsynths and all their other collegues under Linux should not be able to render a usable pad-sound. So here is the deal: You post a sound here as ogg...
