Re: Realtime MIDI arranger

As jeffg pointed out making API's sacred and immutable should truly be a pillar of ANY operating system, I don't think that necessarily means Microsoft is so great it should just be a common-sense methodology in a perfect world... The 'freedom' of FLOSS is a double-edged sword unfortunately....

Not sure why this never got uploaded.. but it will be added to the archive later tonight..
There are also some zips listed in the readme on your sfz archive that are not included in the ftp. Did they get deleted because of some licensing issue?

Thanks!

Re: Realtime MIDI arranger

I don't understand why developers use unstable development bases, especially when they want other people to use their apps... falkTX still does his plugin builds on Ubuntu Lucid!, the drumgizmo guys have a CentOS (RHEL 6) build server to test compatibility. If more developers would use stable and/o...

Re: (Probably) hardware related noise

I think what you done on your laptop is essentially a ground lift which i dont think is really that dangerous Yes, the problem is actually a ground loop, since in this country there is rarely an earth wire installed, all the noise of the laptop is shared through the ground cable with the amplifiers...

Re: Anyone interested in an LV2 FM synth?

It'd be interesting to try the hardcoded version. Maybe you need a certain kind of algorithm for some instrument and you need it to be rock-solid, so you configure it and compile...

If you don't follow the steps above, you will be recording in 16-bit instead of 24.

Re: (Probably) hardware related noise

disconnecting ground is not wise . Right, totally. But in my case there are no dell PSUs that are double insulated, and they have a propetary connector, so my only choice would be getting a different brand and soldering the octogonal connector, and I won't break a working PSU (no screws, it's all g...

Hi jeff,

Is this still available anywhere? I kind of trust your samples.

Thanks!

Re: audio interface usb

If all you cant get ahold is a M-Audio Fast Track Pro, go ahead. 2 ins 2 outs, USB1.1, decent quality preamps (to my ears at least), and if you use an RT kernel, and assign maximum priority to the interface (the rtirq script) you can achieve 2.7 ms of latency at 48kHz, 24bit (I played live with thos...

Re: M-Audio Fast Track Pro

I have the same soundcard. To run it at 48khz, 24bit resolution, duplex mode, you have to create the file /etc/modprobe.d/fast-track-pro.conf with the following: options snd_usb_audio vid=0x763 pid=0x2012 device_setup=0x09 Beware as the preceding will render the digital inputs useless (necessary tra...

Re: Synth programming resources?

though it might be easier for starters to use a basic (but powerful) subtractive synth such as amsyth, synthv1, xsynth, or a minimoog etc. Agree, I was just saying ams is best suited to follow the synth secrets examples on sound on sound, since those usually rely on the modular paradigm. Have a goo...

Re: Linux music as a major player...

I am just using the GIMP as a prominent example but the same goes for music creation and video editing applications - I see no commitment on the part of the big players to use their massive resources to move Linux forward in these areas. They [Canonical, Red Hat, SUSE, etc] are not funding developm...

Re: Synth programming resources?

As mentioned above, the synth secrets articles are a great place to start with sound synthesis in general. The author goes through the basics of sound and the most commonly employed synthesis techniques in the first part, and then he addresses specific instruments' simulations. These last are of imp...
