Just listened to yo-wow.
I opened the link expecting some rock & roll tune, and was greeted by an EDMish track.
I was amazed to hear the quality of the mix.
Keep on the good work.

Re: Opening several programs in different desktops
In tiling window managers it's easy to do that. It's one of the reasons I use dwm.
You do have to resign some automagical desktop environments features though.
Cheers!

Re: ZynAddSubFX Midi Control
I've tried to make a NRPN-control patch for ZynAdd whit Pure Data, using some abstractions that allows the nrpn control and the core pd object "ctlout": it worked for me but the REAL problem is: ONLY things that ZynAdd allow u to control via nrpn are the parameters of the effects (delay, ...

Re: how do you compose your songs?
@Silgrin4D If what you need is an introduction to melody composing, you can use schönberg's models for begginers in composition here: http://www.artisiou.com/bibliotheque/harmonie/1942%20-%20Arnold%20Schoenberg%20-%20Models%20for%20Beginners%20in%20Composition.pdf It's divided in two booklets that a...

Re: (Probably) hardware related noise
I used to have noise on my amps when connected to the wall outlet in my bedroom. I run a ground cable, and noise was softened, but then the computer started inserting noise from mouse movements, fan, and hard drive. The solution to my problem was to connect the speakers to the grounded outlet and th...

Re: ZynAddSubFX Midi Control
ZynAddSubFX is not as of yet fully midi controllable. It is, however a work in progress.
If you really need a midilearn function you can run the windows vst version on festige or carla, which do include that feature.
Cheers!

Re: Program/plugin that can control external devices via mid
You could easily achieve this on puredata (that's how I would do it anyway).
Probably a little less direct than using a baked solution, but would give you more options to automate the thing.
Cheers.

Re: Optimizing bass guitar?
Just one question since it hasn't been asked: Did you try lowering the capture volume in alsamixer? On my souncard, anything above halfways distorts heavily. This is on an onboard card, but my bass has a high output too. You can always amplify the signal again within your software, in my case I use ...

Re: Optimizing for JACK
I was looking for kernel config info today and saw this on the jackaudio.org FAQ: I need to use shedutil to set up realtime scheduling of each audio application. No you do not. There are countless examples e.g. archwiki which demonstrate elaborate scripts to raise the priority of audio-processing ap...

Re: Recycling an old, small eeePC on a pedalboard
I'm resurrecting an old thread here, but I just happened to come across it... For the record, I achieve better latencies on my acer aspire one (n270 atom, 1,60GHz, 1GB RAM) than on my main laptop (t6400 2GHz, 4GB RAM) both on onboard soundcards. I regularly use the netbook as a pedalboard for my gui...

Re: linux sampler how-to please
it's weird, you have the repos installed, but somehow linuxsampler doesn't show in the cache.
I would delete all the kxstudio-[whatever].list you have in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and then re add the repos.
Then do apt-get update again and see if it gets better.
