Re: Non Session Manager + .dll VST

Only NSM Proxy will send SIGUSR1. So you'll have to start your script via NSM Proxy (actually, you could define the whole thing in NSM Porxy if you set those WINE environment variables in your ~/.bash_profile or whatnot). Ah, well that clears up things a bit for me. I thought about using NSM Proxy ...

I suspected this but hadn't got around to test it. All I've needed the saved state for is to load instruments. Non-Session-Manager sends the SIGUSR1 signal.

Re: Non Session Manager + .dll VST

UPDATE: I discovered another Festige trick! Using a script to load a previously saved state. (NOTE: I'm using a different VST for this example because it's particularly appropriate and it happens to be what I'm working on  ) Festige (or more properly fst.exe if you look closely at the above sc...

Re: Integrated workflow

If "cobbling" is what you are genuinely interested in then I have to recommend NON http://non.tuxfamily.org/wiki/Documentation. It's a DAW for the cobbler. It's a modular DAW, with a standalone sequencer, mixer, recorder and session manager. And, there are other parts you'll need; li...

Re: Audio interface and monitors. Suggestions?

Focusrite makes usb compliant interfaces for a decent price and the best reviewed, reasonably priced monitors I've been able to find are the KRK Rokit 5 (pair for $300).

Re: How do you incorporate Carla into your workflow?

NON doesn't have sampler plugin hosting or a patchbay because those tools exist elsewhere, and that Carla has both make it a perfect fit for my set up.

Non Session Manager + .dll VST + FeSTige options

The faster I can fire up a project I'm working on the more time I will spend on it. That seems pretty obvious, but if I can start a project in a matter of seconds there is a big bonus. If I only plan on spending 5-10 minutes working, what's the point if 3-5 minutes are spent setting up. But if it on...

Re: fsthost - no gui for the vst

I just figured out another way to do what I've been wanting to do. Funny, it's been right in front of me the whole time. Festige has a box near the bottom titled "Final Command:" I copied that command and used it to make a shell script. I plug that into Non-Session-Manager and - viola! My ...

Re: fsthost - no gui for the vst

I have the same too, please report a bug upstream. I can find the project on sourceforge but I don't see where to file bug reports. You can workaround this by disabling "embed editor"; look for a checkbox with this tooltip and uncheck it. The GUI will then work. Just uncheck the box? That...

Re: Many eyes on Rakarrack

You are absolutely right, a good software deserves to be maintained. But you missed the point. Version 0.5.8 is just a few months older than 0.6.1 and it works flawlessly on any distribution (i have used), on both 32bit and 64bit. So the way i see it, it's a matter of proper version control. Sure i...

fsthost - no gui for the vst

When I load a vst in fsthost there's no gui for the vst. There is a gui for fsthost and the vst does load; I can see it in the patchbay and make connections to it. I don't know if it's a bug, or if I'm doing something wrong. When I run fsthost in a terminal this is what shows: tony@tony-HP-Compaq-dc...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla

Hah! My WinVST sampler is working in Carla. :D By using dssi-vst, right? Yeah I guess, under "Type" it says DSSI and I can run that vst in vsthost. I just need to be able to install fsthost with wine 1.4... I uploaded a new source package just minutes ago. If all goes well, a new fixed + ...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla

Hah! My WinVST sampler is working in Carla. :D

Now I just need AmpliTube to work in Carla and I'll be home free. Though I expect it would work with fsthost as it runs great in Festige and I'd be satisfied with fsthost + nsm-proxy. I just need to be able to install fsthost with wine 1.4...

Re: The state of sample players on Linux

I think the best thing I did for VMachine(wine) compatibility was to get rid of the MSVC manifests/runtime and used static linking which solved most nightmares. Hmm, that sounds familiar. I was running SampleTank on my 32-bit machine but when I got a 64-bit it wouldn't install. It said something ab...
